Thread: Why bother with carbineer? And who had the audacity to call our carbine the ELITE????

I am utterly disgusted at the entire profession right now! I chose carbiner for 2 reasons. First I wanted a "battlefield" type of char and the carbine seemed to be the obvious soldier weapon and second for the E-11 which is one of the most identifiable weapon in the Star Wars universe.

Well I am sorry to say it is a COMPLETE waste of time. Any BH with carbine 1 and undershot will outgun and outperform ANY carbineer would it be on PvP or PvE making them in fact the real carbine specialist.

The HAM costs are absolutely out of control and it is a SHAME that 2 months after the release these problem has not been resolved yet (it must be more important to toy with the T21 a gun that merely nobody uses due to lack of ressources or founds).

What is going on with that stop and go??? Now when I get hit I get delayed??? woaw!!! half of the NPC in the game already outru us lets make it even easier! Why not tell us directly to reserve a fresh clone everytime we fight a yellow con or above???

And finally my bigest disapointment: the ELITE carbine. Whoever named that piece of junk elite must have a twisted sense of humor. I have now seen 2 models on 2 different servers by 2 very respected weaponsmiths so nobody can give me the "it must have been a poorly crafted one" excuse. It is pathetic! Same speed that a laser with only 1 in armor penetration, damages similar to the E-11 and energy based and finaly inacceptable HAM costs.

The developpement team needs to start packing some coffee and adressing the real issues because quite frankly NOBODY CARES IF NEWBIES GET ONE MELON INSTEAD OF THREE!

And by the way when I read official answeres like "we'll investigate" or "we'll look into it" it stops amuzing me ,it now INFURIATES me! What are you guys paid for! We did all the investigating that was needed! hundreds of posts listing for some VERY precisely the nature of the differetn problems! Stop investigating an start acting! I'll get fired on the spot if my customers came complaining and my only answer was "I'll investigate.."!

I know the feeling of being outgunned by bounty hunters, pistoleers face the same problem.

Carbineers and Pistoleers are supposed to be the specialists when it comes to these weapons, yet bounty hunters, who divide their time between multiple weapon types outgun the specialist professions with every weapon type.

It's kind of depressing to wear a *master* pistoleer or *master* carbineer title knowing that you're a master at all.

i know how a carbineer stacks up to a pistoleer/smuggler/bounty hunter...anyone know as far as rifleman go? just wondering if we're the weakest ranged combat at the moment, but i don't know any active rifleman to compare myself against and i absolutely hate rifles and so am unwilling to use them anymore, if at all possible.

Comparing to riflemen, carbineers are probably far better off till master when rifles gain the ridiculous speed increase, since a pure carbineer wont get enough speed mods for that. Rifles also suffer from the same high ham cost thing carbines do, close to the same amounts (I think?) except rifles use mostly mind so you cant have someone healing them after it. As for which is weaker, who knows Kinda depends on what you do and how high up the tree you are.

And for the original poster.. dying to yellow cons and above is exactly as it's supposed to be for everyone, so complaining that you cant do that as a carbineer probably isnt going to do much good

Sorry to say. I have a friend whom is a rifleman. I tried dueling him. He and I BOTH have Laser Carbines and are BOTH expert Marksman but in our own skill tree. We decide to see what is worse off. HisHAM costs maybe high, but he does more damage then is done to himself. I try using the faithful full auto shot two since my crippiling shot missed the first shot. I do what 50 damage and he does 600 to my mind and taking 200 from himself and I took 150 from my HAM. You see. Rifleman are supposed to be ONE SHOT ON KILL not 'Shoot shoot shoot pray pray pray please dont miss please! O crud I am dead.' like the Carbiner.

I am a dedicated Carbiner and yes, I know Bounty Hunter Skills are too good. But I also have faith in the devs. (Except for the faction prices being lowered.) But still. If they fix all the skills, and the HAM costs, and our beloved Elite Carbine. Maybe you guys will see carbinier will be muchbetter. But for now. I do more damage to MY SELF then I do to the ENEMY. My friend has found out that some attacks in Rifleman work with carbines. And Yes I know they are bugged. Carbine is STILL the underdog profession. I will keep as one until the devs and ours CSRs understand the problem and for you people who think that carbine is ok. Start a new character and use carbines. You will see what we all mean. We do not get any good enhancements. Rifles get more in everything except moving while firing and accuracy. But Pistolieers get more than US in everything.

It is completely messed up. Try not to prove that BH and Pistolieers are ok. If they are ok then why dont I see master Carbiners and Master Riflemen as often as Master Bounty Hunters and Master Pistolieers?

Greets ...

First off ... Carbineer's are NOT a PvP profession. I get so sick of hearing folks comparing all professions to each other and thinking they should be the *same* or *equal* in every situation.

If every profession was the *same* or *equal* why have different professions?

The Carbineer are the "machine guns" of the battle field. They are there to hit Multiple targets and force them to the ground.

Last night I amazed one of my guild mates .. we were attacking red/red spats (not real big deal) ... but 3 of them targeted me ... I was able to kill all three of them, with minimal healing, cause I could hit all three of them with 1 round of shots.

I was able to *stop* all three of them time and time again ... I was able to stack bleeds on all three of them.

Carbineer's are NOT supposed to be the same as a pistoleer ... they are not supposed to be the same asa BH ... they are not designed to be 1vs1 profession ... at all ... and that's fine with me.

This game is sooooo new that most folks don't even realize the differences in the professions ... or they are to immature to care.

I like using FullAutoArea at the last three weak imps at a base and taking them *all* down with that one sweep.

That is what a Carbineer is about ... It's not about a Carbineer vs a Rifleman ...

Take 3 rifleman and put them against 3 other rifleman and you got a battle ... take 3 rifleman and put them against 2 riflemen and 1 carbineer ... the 2+1 will beat the 3 every single time.

I know how you feel Scorpio. But i must disagree with you on the point of the elite. sure, the elite may be rather crummy, not super damage or anything, but it's got one thing going for it. the min damage. I have to admit, although i'm not even a novice carbineer, (half way there), i've been using a DXR6 disrupter, and even though it doesn't have that massive damage, i prefer it over my laser carbine because it does CONSISTANT damage. you will NEVER see a fullauto1 shot hit for 60 damage. instead it will always hit for 200 - 400 damage, consistantly. i know what you're thinking, but i'm using the DXR-6, which is not the Elite, but my point is that the max damage doesn't mean everything....

What exactly are you mad about?

Accuracy? Diversity?

You do all realize that the best carbiners in game will also be Bounty Hunters don't you? Or did you not research your skill trees?

Hero,

Your post well describes current carbine skills...but after the proposed changes come in a couple of weeks that will not be true. We will still have ranged knockdowns/posture changes, but since they are only good once every 30 seconds, they are of limited value.

Further, AoE skills like fullautoarea are of limited use except fighting low end mobs. Have you seriously tried out fullauto on Dantooine or Lok or another hard planet? Damage must be focused, not spread all around.

I do not agree about your 3 on 2+1 example either. Carbines do random pool damage or action...Rifles mind or random....3 people doing mind will always beat 2 people doing mind and 1 doing random. Post patch this will be especially true since once you do your posture effect, you are waiting 30 seconds to do it again.

Are they still going through with the KD/posture change once every 30 seconds? Unbelievable. Break something that's not broken...
