Thats just it now that my dps is up there they never run anymore....

if youdrag them too far away, and your damage rate drops then they retreat, I tested it by dragging an ancient almost1k away from its spawn. It did not retreat until I lost LOS with it and could not hit it for a few seconds.

Makes sense, because I've noticed when I start getting out of range it starts to retreat...........

Retreat is triggered by distance and low hate.
Any damage you do increases its hate towards you, think of hateas a number that is steadily ticking downwards until you do more damage. Once that number gets low enough it triggers retreat.
If you keep the damage up then that number wont drop low enough.
There is a bug when the Krayt kills a member of your group, the Hate instantly drops to 0 for that char and even though other are damaging it,ittriggers retreat.
Ancients tend to despawn after retreating.
