Thread: Carbineer and Melee-Choosing a combination.

I posted to same question in other thread, but here goes again...



Melee defense + 62 Ranged defense +45


Ability to heal wounds, stop disease, stop poison, stop bleeds (takes a lot longer than doc, but still nice)
Also this gives you the ability to powerboost for a small short HAM buff, and the ability to lift yourself from incapacitation.

Yeah, I went TKA back in October just for meditate. I had that tree for a few weeks, and decided to master TKA because it was fun. I have never dropped the meditate line of TKA since getting it. I can't see how I could live without it now, mostly due to it's wound healing and Powerboost. As for the presision striking line, I took that back to gain some defensive skills to compliment my fencer and carbineer skills since I had the skill points left. My decision was down to investing those skill points into Precision Striking, Novice Scout, or some First Aid from Medic.I chose Precision Striking because it enabled me to capout in both ranged and melee defence. Coupled with both ranged and melee mitigations at level 3, it makes for some nice defences.

Carbineer/TKM is very balanced. As soon as then start to kite. Pull out the dh-17. Use your posture changes to stick the perp in place. Shoot full auto single and hope you dizzy. Run up. Beat the crap out of the perp. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Actually. It's a very deceint combo. People close in a little too close and TK will fill in that accuracy gap that carbines have. 0-10 meters.

Just wondering... I did some looking over the various classes and looking at various builds. I toy with the idea of making uber carbineers. Bh/carbineer is one such uber combo. Since I have been a carbineer/bh combo, I wanted to look a carbineer/melee combo but one that didn't use the melee offensive skills. I still want to use the carbiner for damage.


So I toyed with around and found this build:

Master Carbineer

TKA 4404 (all the defenses of TKA plus the meditation)

Swordsman 0040 (the defenses and counterattack from swordsman)

Medic 2030 (StimCs and First Aid)

Scout 1000 (a bit of terrain negotiation)


This build draws defenses from 3 classes including state defenses, maxed counterattack and the range/melee defenses. All the carbineer skills are there and can be complemented with speed tapes. Medic and scout skills are there for healing and movement. This character should be very difficult to hit.

Great, especially if you have an uber carbine. Defenses make it fun, but it might be smarter to drop scout and swordsman and do fencer instead, because the ranged/melee/stat defenses from fencer rock and the +20 to counterattack you get from swordsman doesn't really do much.

Decided on, Fencer/Carbineer Tka 4-3-0-1 Nov Medic. In PvP I dont get affected by Kd of any sorts. Dizzy takes like 50 tries to stick, really my only vulnerability to state effects is Stun. But I put on a +19 to stun bandolier and that doesnt do much either. Against Cm's I have to kill them fast then I can just meditate there poison/disease off.

This is the best template Ive done so far, yes i have been cm . For instance today, I killed a fully buffed master swordsman and I was unbuffed, I did have ubese on however

I just did master carbineer recently replacing a lot of my melee build that was useless after the defense capping and changes to master brawler. I kept TKM, aside from being balanced defense and offense one might note that a TKM can effectively target any HAM pool (I think head hit is a Master attack but can't remember as I got about 3 boxes of TK at the same time when I mastered). This is an outstanding benefit when PVPing in a group with a CM or when the Crippling shot takes one of the bars down to a vulnaerability point. Like any build it has it's strengths and weaknesses. So far I have enjoyed it a lot and look forward to more as I learn what Carbineer can do in PVP. I just couldnt do the old FOTM TKM Rifle

Bingo for your post, I have been trying to decide what to do with Carbineer, was thinking BH or maybe Carbineer and pikeman. The light is now lit and Master Carb/Fencer with some TKA and medic will be the path. Great post at a great time for me!
