Thread: Higher level specials, any need for the old ones still?

Its actually a good thing. Prevents spamming TKAs. Once your dizzy timer was almost up they could just spam Dizzy/KD some more so as soon as you went undizzy you'd be KD'd right away.

Right. As it is now, a TKA can't just spam KD to keep you down. If he does you'll stand up. I know i'm saying this as a guy who lives and dies by using KDs, but If I take thakitillo there is a good chance that I won't be KD'd right away. It'll take many tries. However, he could just button mash KD until he sees I'm on the ground. But with this he has to take his time to see if a KD worked or not.

I dont think I'm being very clear, its hard for me to explain I guess.

I understand what you are saying and I don't see it being a big deal....except for those profs that don't THINK in Combat.....oh wait, that IS everybody but Carbineer

The problem for a Carbineer is that the % chance to land Posture Down and KD is so low that we must spam it....unlike other profs that get a much higher activation on the KD in particular. I know from my own personal testing that LowBlow is much more effective than ChargeShot1.....and I played both Master Pistoleer and of course Master Carbineer

Its a PvP shot more than anything. It has a decent chance to cause Mind damage and its a very fast shot, so its one of the best chances we've got to take down an opponent.

Actually, according to Nova's testing, the reload on it is 2.5, which is as slow as any carbineer special gets, but yes, it is very much suited best for PvP, and does dofairly well at hitting mind.

With a PvP grade carbine (sub 2.0 speed) for Carbineers, ScatterShot2 hits the speedcap with no SEA Speed assistance

But your statement of ScatterShot2 being a very fast shot is dead wrong.....it is the slowest shot we have....

And you second statement of sub 2.0 Speed Carbine hitting the cap is dead wrong....only a 1.0 Speed Carbine will cap ScatterShot2 with no SEA's, no BH, and no PU's.

Unless the Special Delay has changed.....

All this talk about specials got me curious. Up until this point, I've been using actionshot 2 and legshot 2... But it's been mentioned in passing that actionshot and legshot have about the same DPS.

When I checked the specials thread, I noticed the action shots were not listed. Does anybody (*cough*Novamarine *cough* ) know what the stats for action shot, and why they weren't listed in the specials thread STICKIED on the top of the forum?

Edit: More because I was mocked about editing before than anything, although I did add a smiley. Well, two of them.

Edit: Novamarine wrote the initial specials thread. My mistake. Sorry.

Actually, it might be that I'm using a .9 speed Carbine in PvP that's skewing me a bit. But even on a 1.7 speed, its still close enough to the cap that you're barely going to notice.

Well with +60 Carbine Speed a person will fire a 2.5 delay Special at the exact speed of the weapon.....but it is relatively easy (above +70 Speed) to get a slow gun near enough to the 1.0 cap that it feels about the same.....

jfang,

pool-specific specials are very difficult to test because they do not work properly against the ideal target - a lair. If I have some spare time, I'd try to compare actionshot2 to legshot2.

I have never done my testing against a lair.....I prefer beating the snitz out of a toon

My impression was that legshot didn't work either. It's been a while though.

If legshot does work but action shot doesn't, should we bug it? Action shotshouldn't cause a bleed effect, but it should do damage if leg shot does (as the initial attack does damage against all enemies).
