Though I'm not on Kettenmoor maybe I can help with that template, so let's see my subjective opinion playing a Master Car/Master SL is:

LOVE IT!

Objectively seen, it depends if you like the almost total supportive role you will play in PvE and PvP. Have a look at the FAQ as there are described three different ways to play carbineer for PvP:

It depends on a few things, namely:

What type of role do you prefer to play? Damage, Direct Support, or Indirect Support?

Damage means you'll be spending all your time on the front lines with a Carbine in hand.. spamming nothing but KDs and CrippleShot. Okay, so we Carbineers aren't fantastic for raw damage, but we do have our moments. You'll use ScatterShot2 as well.

Direct Support means you follow a person (a teammate) and set your common target up for a posture down and keep them dizzy/on the floor. This means firing FullAutoSingle2 and other state-inducing specials, as well as using ChargeShot/SuppresionFire/ActionShot to keep them flopping down. Your goal is to keep this target dizzy, blinded and stunned AT ALL TIMES. That's it.

Indirect Support means you're using a variety of specials (namely FullAutoArea) to inflict states to a large mass of people, but will dish out even less damage as a whole.

For PvE
I play this template on Ahazi currently still mainly PvE and I do stick more to the MSL role trying to organice and coordinate the group I lead. I use my carbineer skills mainly for getting stats on them with the final goal to get them Knocked down, so my group can take them out more easily.

Keyword: ranged tank - aggro them all to me and get them knockeddown so they cant attack.
That's my PvE tactic for carbineer, then switch to the SL part and shout commands to have some fun. I could to some more as MCarb but He! If got two profession so lets play both =).

Exception: Single High end MOBs (Krayts, Gorax, ...) let the melees tank, try to get a bleed on them and as much as possible stats but they tend hardly to stick but this will be get better when the CURBS comes out (according to TAfirehawk and I do believe him on that).

For PvP
Not being very much into PvP on Ahazi I tested this template on TC-gorath to practice PvP where I was mainly stuck in the role of the SL leading a full group of 20 rebels holding bestine for about 2hours. I was far behind the frontlines mainly using /retreat and /sys to coordinate our attacks/ counterattacks/defense. Groupchat and radar(about 1/6 of my screen) where my main tools to get reports from the frontlines and either to call them back or to charge the enemy line. Whenever a enemy broke through our lines or came up from behind I used either FullautoSingle and Suppressionfire, or /chargeshot to stop the from kiting so my "guards" could take them out.
I thought about putting my self on /follow to one of my guards but I came up to late with this idea. In addition I don't know if it would be wise to have some macros (not self repeating macros) at hand with the /assist command.
With /assist at least to my knowledge you target the target your target (preferably your teammate) is targeting.

Thats it for me.
I love this template. Hope you like it to. For more information on the SL part have a look at the SL forum the Squad Leader Sticky Combined sticky is what you want.

Short side note:
Those beeing my first larger PvP battles and usually used to just play a minor role I was shocked when several imperials rushed forward with some of them Shouting "TAKE OUT THAT SL". Shouldnt had left that tag on after I gathered the group ...

Nice to have you onboard

About krayt tissues. Tisses comes in various qualities, from Base (+30 max dam, -0,3 speed) up to +120 max dam. Speedcome from -0,3 to -1,3 something. Also the amount if tissues dropped from a krayt are random. You can loot 1 up to 11 similiar tissues.

The diffrent weapons require a diffrent amount of tissues. A basic pistol needs only 1 tissue while a T-21 rifle needs 11 similar (same serial number ie same drop).

A laser carbine needs 4 similartissues (3 for blaster handlers + 1 schematic), an Elite and DXR6 needs 5 IIRC.

Also, stocks can be used on carbines and rifles to give them more damage, but slows them down a bit (unless using Form Fitted Stocks).

Those 600 to 800 damage carbines are crafted by some realy good tissues, an adv or looted stock and have gotten a realy good damage slice. Then add a Power Up for further damage.

SEA stand for Skill Enchance Attachement. That's those Clothing/Armor attachments which can be put in clothing/armor and gives various bonues. For Carbineers Speed and Accurcy bonuses is most valuable.

I am new to the game and have almost master bh, and now workin on mastering Carbs. i have a krayt carbine with like 374 max dmg, not sure on the other specs as im at work right now. i just have a few questions. does the amount of krayt tissues affect how the outcome of the product will be? and i see these carbines for 600 and 800 plus dmg, is that just a lucky slice, or are there other things taken into consideration when making these things. i just need some really good advice on how to get a good carbine. i will be hunting jedi and i need a great gun for the job. i am on bloodfin, so if anyone can help me, im willing to pay for a good one, as money is not a problem, to a certain extent. and what does SEA stand for? any and all help is appreciated.

Hello!

I've just picked up carbineer, and to be honest I haven't got much of a clue. I went from BH/Rifles to SL/Rifles to SL/Pistols (so I could use my Intimdator better - the sexiest pistols in the game IMO) and I'm now going to swap Pistols for Carbines. I chose this because I looted a Blackscale "Hall Sweeper" Carbine up on the Avatar Platform, and it's a damn sexy carbine (same skin as the DXR6 I think), but it also means that I've got the E5 to use as well (another interesting Carbine).

Has anyone got any suggestions/hints how to be an effective carbineer? At the moment I'm using pistol specials that I still have, can anyone suggest what order to go up the trees in?

Cheers in advance.

The FAQ is invaluable for these kinds of questions.

Your choice of which trees of Carbineer to go up first probably depends on your skill mods. If you don't have much general ranged accuracy/speed to support you, consider Assault Tactics for speed followed by Marksmanship for accuracy. If you already have speed, do Marksmanship first for Legshot. Legshot will be your primary damage-dealing special. Other important specials to use as you get include Crippling Shot (a snare), Charge Shot (a KD), Suppression Shot (an area snare), and Full Auto Area (area damage).

The FAQ, with all respect, only holds the pre-CU information on this topic and thus, at least in my eyes, is junk.

There is a much more recent article on this in the SWG Wiki.

You obviously haven't read the FAQ.....plenty of links to CU info in there.....I moth-balled the pre-CU FAQ.....

Can't say I care for anything 'official' outside this forum in any respect.....nice info but not a replacement for a FAQ here.

This is a community, not a dictatorship.....so info lacking in the FAQ is a community responsibility.....

Sorry to disappoint, you i took a look at it right before writing my comment and I didn't include the "on this topic" without reason.

I find plenty of info an each and any carbine, on how to make XP (base info is: get grouped), what your specials do, weapon stats, etc... this all doesn't cover the question given, the FAQ in this respect refers to a pre-CU guide which, at least in my eyes, holds very little truth now. (I admit, the word "junk" was too rude, i am sorry. But i still see my point as valid, that the pre-CU guide on how to level a carbineer is not suitable any more for the post-CU carbineer.)

I agree. But i would suggest that you consider to include these threads into the FAQ:

If you find a flaw or problem in the one i wrote, just tell me what you dislike, i am ready and eager to improve it.

Thanks okojii, I didn't expect to start a flame war with my first post however!

I should have mentioned though that I did look through most of the stickies first, starting with the FAQs. I was more looking for playstyle suggestions and hints and tips on what to use and when, things that everyone does differently, and can't easily be stickied.

Well the most poweful carbines are the Elite (cl 54) and the E11 Mk2 (cl54 and Master Carbs). I think most people use these, so if you just don't want to go with the flow, feel free to use any other good looking carbine you can find.

But in my experience if you take looks, you hand down the firepower.

And welcome to the best profession in SWG!

Id agree on the best profession tag

If u go for looks u wont be as good in a firefight unless u really like the look of the E11 Mk 2 or Elite carbine

however u dont need to do horrendous amounts of damage in a group on dantooine hunting bolles so I quite often use my alliance needler. The DC15 from Boba isnt bad either and it means u can be a clonetrooper with the armour, not that I did that :shifty:

good luck with the prof m8

EDIT - I personally think that the E5 is a nice looking carbine and u can use it from the off with master SL. its nice
