Thread: New Carbineer
Am going to be working up towards Carbineer. I do hear and read that there are some things that need to be fixed, but that does not discourage me. I am also working scout. I am leaning towards Ranger, but I am not sure if that is what I want to do. I know carbine is.
Anyways... Any advice I could get would be helpful. I am reading the posts, but anything extra would help.
Thanks

Thanks
One question I have that I have not seen anywhere. As a Carb/Scout, what should I do for gear? Should I wear armor or clothes? What types should I look for?
Any help is appreciated, thanks

I wouldnt worry too much about armor. Personally after spending many tens of thousands of credits on armor ive come to one conclusion: armor pretty much sucks. I think alot of people focus too much on the damage absorbtion% and not enough on the HAM encumbrance which is anywhere from stupid to retarded and typically the most expensive/coolest/newest stuff is most often on the retarded end. I was wearing a shiny new suit of chitin and in the process of saving up for some ubese when i realized despite my fancy new armor i was being slapped around like schoolgirl. Now i wear a composite suit consisting of mabari boots, chitin legs, 2 chitin bracers and ditched my 25k ubese chest for 10k tantel chest. Basically i went from wearing50k or so worth of armor that was getting me killed whenever i used alot of specials to about20k worth of armor and am having far better results.I can usespecials more liberally during combat now andquite frankly mostmobs dont live long enoughto beat on me or my armor.
Marksman based professions have the suckiest of all mind pools next to the brawler. Helms have ridiculous mind encumbrance. That being the case, your going to find yourself getting one-shotted alot everytime you encounter someone or something with a mind pool based weapon/attack.
Your best bet is to allocate the majority of your gear $ towards agood weapon. You are an offensive classand most of your success will be based on dishing outan assload of damage in the shortest time possible with bothfirepower and debilitatingcarbineweapon specials.
Weapon power-ups: keep a healthy supply of them in your bag. They are cheap to buy and/or make.
Stimpacks: cheap to buy and/or make and willminimize your downtime whenyou dont have a healer with you.
This class has been broken since launch. Frankly this profession will add nothing to your character unless you are a swordsman and you want to stack counterattack (although this will likelybe taken away sooner than carbine will be fixed).
If you like carbine as a weapon, climb the bounty hunter carbine tree instead. You'll accomplish more in those 4 boxes than all 18 boxes of carbineer. Though if you go bounty hunter, you may want to go the pistol/eyeshot route as it's more effective and pistols are vastly superior weapons (ham cost, accuracy/range, speed)to carbines.
Given that this game has been out for 7 months, and the class is arguably more broken now than it was at release, I would not expect things to get better. Case in point, chargeshot2 was thought to be working by the developer responsible for 'fixing' it.
I have been reading these forums for quite some time now. I wasnt too sure if I wanted to venture to this realm of the game after intially reading the Carbineer facts. "Has the best character titles in the game?" As a strength? Really stretching for something there. I just decided screw it, this is a game and I am going to have fun. Fun to me is RP'ing in ST armor with an E-11 carbine ready.
So I am here. I wont ask stupid questions unless I cant find it on the forums somewhere.
