Thread: Question. What Ranged Prof has the WORST Defense? A: Carbines.

Also keep in mind that Carbineer/Rifleman has a potentially higher damage output, but Carbineer/Pistoleer is more versitile with fan shot, stopping shot, warning shot, and disarming shot (although they kinda fixed it =P)
I've done both. Carbineer / Rifleman definitely has punch with the Head Shot / Leg Shot combination, as well as Sniper Shot. Carbineer also gives some amount of target control which Rifleman lacks.
I've also done Carbineer / Pistoleer and as you say, the options are definitely there.
I went w/ M.Marksman / M.Carbineer / M.Rifleman / Pistoleer 0434. Best of both worlds, a ton of fun, and I impress with the speed and damage my trooper puts outs. One things for sure, the group healer only needs to target me when we go PVE, lol!

And why I was and still am very unhappy with the changes the Devs made to Carbineer.....but they didn't listen to my yelling or begging....![]()
Tell them you like Jedi and wish to be a Jedi and Have there jedi Baby. Then they would listen.

Why thankyou sir. But my point remains valid.... as a ranged profession, it is surely a bad idea to be close enough to our enemies to stain or armour with their blood.

Yea, I was just trying to be funny (I really need to stop trying). To tell you the truth, with armor break sliced armor and a decent amount of healing, you don't even need to kite melee, or even jedi except those with the oldest sabers.

The KD is a SINGLE target Special.....Carbineer is supposed to be about controlling crowds, which is MULTIPLE targets.

Basically, all of the Carbineers "Melee Defense" skills are USELESS when holding a carbine (but hey, if youre holding a baton, they work!). Since Carbineers have the least amount of "Ranged Defense" (what works when you're holding a ranged weapon), Carbineers have the worst defense of all ranged professions.
So to put it another way...
What ranged prof is the best tank? Rifleman. ROFLMAO...Tell me this is working as intended.
What ranged prof has the weakest defense? Carbineers.
This friends, needs to be fixed badly.
i agree 100% with this .. i think pistoleers should have best defense .. and next to them it should be carbineers .. and then rifleman last ...

Kind of still my point... if our specials allowed us to control a crowd effectively in that way, we wouldn't have a need for a high melee defense. So the low melee defense is a result of 'sunshine scenario' thinking, that what we have makes us capable of crowd control.

Well... at least you guys can wear battle armour. I'm a pistoleer (ya know, max range 35 meters, close to melee and stuff), and I'm stuck with recon armour (high energy resists, really crappy melee resists).
Now... many people around would be ready to kill for recon armour, as energy protection is more valuable than kinetic protection in almost any form of PvP. I personally say that there's no "best" armour around, it all depends on what you fight and how you fight.
