Thread: Question. What Ranged Prof has the WORST Defense? A: Carbines.

I'm putting this post up to draw attention to a bug the developers have not responded to but is discussed at length here;

Basically, all of the Carbineers "Melee Defense" skills are USELESS when holding a carbine (but hey, if youre holding a baton, they work!). Since Carbineers have the least amount of "Ranged Defense" (what works when you're holding a ranged weapon), Carbineers have the worst defense of all ranged professions.
So to put it another way...
What ranged prof is the best tank? Rifleman. ROFLMAO...Tell me this is working as intended.
What ranged prof has the weakest defense? Carbineers.
This friends, needs to be fixed badly.

Im able to tank Pretty good with MBH. And CM 4/0/0/0.

It doesn't hurt me too much, but it would be a nice boost if this gets corrected.
Or was this intentional?
Anyways, Carbineer, despite the intents of the Combat Upgrade as stated in the CU Docs, is an excellent, high damage profession. Low defense? Then Carbineer's balanced.

I don't doubt you're a great player, but the hard numbers are that Rifleman has more defense than you.

The real question is, does it matter? Honestly, I only find that a significant increase in defense makes a difference, such as the +500 for aura.

Lets talk about REAL things affected in SWG....and this sure isn't one based on the in-game testing it is just splitting hairs.

neither of which is being paid attention to it seems.... i'm still waiting for the crowd control part of the crowd control.... and don't tell me a 2 second snare is a control... its a good way to gain a few meters on a bunch of melee people while all the ranged people just laugh at you

Thats why I went Master Carbs and Master Rifleman.......plus the 4xxx of BH means I pwn Jedi.

worse than commando? nope.
commando is 70 ranged d, carb has 75. at least, according to my prof calculator. unless, of course, you don't consider commando to bea ranged proffession.

Fyi guys, Pistoleer has the most defense while holding a profession specificweapon,end equation.
Master Carbineer holding a Carbine: 75 Ranged Def + 40 Carbine Def = 115 Defense
Master Rifleman holding a Rifle: 100 Ranged Def + 30 Rifle Def = 130 Defense
Master Pistoleer holding a Pistol: 85 Ranged Def + 50 Pistol Def = 135 Defense
Now if you're talking about which profession fits better with MCarbs from a purely defensive standpoint:
Master Carbineer/Master Rifleman holding a Carbine: 150 Ranged Def + 40 Carb Def = 190 Defense
Master Carbineer/Master Pistoleer holding a Carbine: 135 Ranged Def + 40 Carb Def = 175 Defense
Also keep in mind that Carbineer/Rifleman has a potentially higher damage output, but Carbineer/Pistoleer is more versitile with fan shot, stopping shot, warning shot, and disarming shot (although they kinda fixed it =P)
