Thanks for the input Sehk.

That's odd... you're almost as good at carbine as they come... with a strong laser carbine, yet you hit for 2200 (which sounds reasonable).

What about these people who claim to hit for 4-5k? Is that really possible? Under what circumstances would a /crippleshot be that strong?

Well, first you need a damage crafted and sliced laser. Mine is currently 98-377, with speed 3.8. (high as hell HAMs though). Then, of course, you Cripple Shot with 0% energy resistance. (Remember, the mob may have armor, but if they have 0% energy resistance, then armor is ignored)

The max damage you could do is: 377 x 7.56 x 1.25 x 1.25 = 4450

The two 1.25s are for the armor piercing rating of the laser carbine of medium (2).

where did u get those 2 '1.25' from?

Yes, you get a 25% bonus for every 1 point of "armor piercing" you are above your opponent. Since a laser is AR2, you would get 2 points over a mob with AR0. And it's not calculated like AR2= 50% bonus. It's 25% x 25%. More like 56.25% bonus.

more importantly, where does the 7.56 come from?

it looks like the damage mod for crippling shot... but i'm wondering how you came about that exact figure

I saw some guy hit a rebel for 1400 damage.. and kill her and her 10k ham gurreck in about 10 seconds...

He did from 4000-5000 a shot on the pet.

I'm curious as to how this is possible...

He claims to have had a carbine powered up to 467 damage... and to have only used crippling shot.

Even with 467 max damage and a 7.5 modifier that only amounts to about 3531 damage... so I'm clueless here. Anyone know?

swg only shows the damage modifier at 5 not 7.5 has it changed?

Armor piercing 2 laser carbine, right? That should account for it.

the 7.5 is wrong just wrong... I've hit 4500 one time with my 326 laser carbine.... theres no specific # to what dmg crippling shot does... but the higher your max dmg is the more dmg you can do a crippling shot.

I've hit for around 4100-4200 (this isn't including AP scary enough) with a Good Lazer carbine with a damage modifer powerup on it.

Still .. I one shot occasionally in pvp.. that wakes people up fast..

My question is how does burstshot2 compare with cripple shot (seeing as how they are at the same level of experiences .. just on different trees.. I'm sure there's pro's and cons.. but what are they?

These laser carbines with the huge max damages...

... are they custom made? My laser carbine is made by one of the most reputable Master Weaponsmiths on Gorath, and my max is in the low 300's i think (I'm not at my home computer with SWG, so I can't check)

Do you people with the 400 max for your laser carbine have all theexperimentation points for each component of the weapon go into damage, happen to get a damage increasing slice, and use a powerupthat affectsmax damage (I think a hot wired coupler does this)?

Despite the effectiveness of crippling shot, my rifleman friends boast of a consistantly higher damage rate.

Riflemen can theoretically do more damage per shot.. and usually do.. especially with the AP3 rifles. I think armor piercing needs a serious second look taken at it; as to mebbie null/reduce armor resists .. vs actually adding damage to the carbine.

Where a rifleman might do more damage per shot.. the speed even on a slow lazer carbine a rifleman can't compare with (omitting a spray stick.. which does jack damage)

Another reason for why Lazer carbines are 'supposedly' kicking ass vs 'superiour' certified weapons is..

(well 2 reasons)

#1 .. poor quality of materials for the DXR6's on most servers.. same with elite carbines.

#2 .. there's something borked with weaponsmiths. apparently some bug (correct me if I'm wrong on the component name) but Power couplers don't 'stack' properly (weapon takes 2) and dxr6's and elites are apparently doing less damage than they should by a large number due to this bug

However.. I'm still skeptical this difference will make up for the lack of armor piercing as it stands now.
