Thread: If Crippling shot really does 7.5 times your max damage...

Then how is it better than /burstshot1? With my DXR6, my burst shot 1 hits for about 900-1300. That's darn close to 7.5 times my max damage for it.

I've heard many conflicting stories about what I can expect to hit for when I reach the upper skill levels of carbineer...

Any high level carbineers that can tell me how crippling shotcompares to the other shots?

And is the armor piecing rating of laser carbine really make it that much better? I stayed away from laser b/c of the slower speed and huge range of damage, but I didn't consider its armor piercing until now.

DXR6 vs. Laser breaks down like this for me:

DXR6: Acid Damage, Faster, Higher Min Damage, Lower AP, Lower Max Damage

Laser: Higher AP, Higher Max Damage, Energy Damage, Slower, Lower Min Damage.

In my view,t eh DXR6 is much better than the Laser, with no skill mods in place. The Speed skill mod can make a WORLD of difference.

Yes you have to look at DPS alone to determine if it's good. You can't make a general statement about one type of weapon. My Laser Carbine is 46 - 319 / 2.8, and that is much higher DPS than any DH17 or DXR6 that I have ever seen (I have one of each type of Carbine, except Elite )

And AR2 ALWAYS helps (except vs. lairs).

Thanks for the input Sehk.

That's odd... you're almost as good at carbine as they come... with a strong laser carbine, yet you hit for 2200 (which sounds reasonable).

What about these people who claim to hit for 4-5k? Is that really possible? Under what circumstances would a /crippleshot be that strong?

From instances that I've read aboutso far about people who use crippleshot, they've done massive amounts of damage with exceptionally crafted laser carbines that are powered up against AR 0 mobs. Couple that with the fact that they aren't doing that damage with every shot. I mean, I've done 1775 pts of damage to a mob with my full auto 2, however, that's nowhere near the norm, and I think that's where the confusion may be coming from.

I think you're confusing burst shot with full auto. Full auto does close to Crippling. Ive never seen burst shot do 7x.

i carry 4 carbines as well:

laser: use this to hit people from far away

DXR6: use this for the acid damage

E11: speed mod makes it have 1.9 speed.

CDEF: hehe i can use knockdowns and bleed moves ALL day and it really wont hurt me.

yes there is a carbine for every situation.

The other answer is, there's a carbine for every situation. I carry a DXR6, an EE3, a laser and an Elite. I usethe EE3, and DXR6 for mobs that have vulnerabilities to heat or acid, the laser against high armored targets and for pvp and the Elite for everyday all purpose work. I replaced my DH17 snub with my Elite and they were pretty comparable, with the exception of the AR difference. Although I don't carry one, I know alot of players who use CDEF's for kd's and posture changes, to keep HAM costs manageable.

The question still stands though .. if burst shot1 and crippling shot do the same damage, where's the benefit for crippling shot?

I dont know the exact multiplier, but I have master carbineer and BH carbine 1-3 and Ive been able to hit for over 2200 with my laser carb using crippling shot. Ive never hit for over 1300 with burstshot 1.

I love my elite carbine, 94-162 armor pierce light and 1.6 speed, 24/42/23 HAM costs...this is one of the best carbines I've seen on my server.
