i was climbing up carbineer for the area knockdown, i was wondering if it was worth it. By this i mean does the shot work correctly?

So what you're really saying is your mad that Carbineers might actually have friends, whereas you are a loner. Perhaps if you were more positive, and did less complaining, people might be more interested in Pking with you - they might find you more personable than your current pissy demeanor.

I didn't bother reading all the drivel above but lemme give you my perspective...froma master carbineer.


Chargeshot2, the area KD, has not worked in my experience. I have not seen it knock anything down, in fact if i remember correctly it didn't even try, as in I didn't get a message saying i had failed to knock the target(s) down. So my answer to your original question would be NO, it is not worth the skill points unless you are going for master in which case you dont really have a choice.


Chargeshot1 is working very well. It doesn't do much damage and it only knocks them down for 2-3 seconds but if you need more time you can just use it again The catch is that it doesn't actually work while the timer is counting down (yes, it is on a timer.) It will tell you that you failed to knock your opponent down, BUT, it will force the target to go through the animation, which keeps them from moving, healing, or attacking and therefore making it work effectively. The only problem with this is that once you start to spam it you dont have a buffer to use other shots, so you have to keep spamming it or else they just get up.


Now about chargeshot1. I remember seeing a post a while back, where someone (it may have been TH) said that they had finally investigated chargeshot1 and found it to be working as intended. So unless I'm delusional and imagined it all that means that we, the carbineers, turned ourselves in for having a skill that was overpowered and the dev's did nothing about it!! What else do you want us to do? Apparently they just checked to see if it knocked the target down and made sure that it was included in the KD timer piece of coding, they obviously didn't go into the game and USE the skill to see what it actually does, call it laziness on their part but that's the only thing that makes sense to me.


Do I think it is unfair to spam chargeshot to win a fight? That depends on who I'm fighting. Usually I try to use it only once at the beginning of the fight because I do think it's kinda cheap, but if I'm fighting someone that's gonna kill me in one shot (commando's/avenger's) then I have to make sure they don't get that one shot off. Basically if they are trying to be uber and one shot everyone I give them a taste of their own medicine and let them see what it's like to be killed with one shot. Otherwise I try to use my other skills and abilities to bring them down.


If someone could find that post and either post a link or a quote I would appreciate it very much, in fact if our correspondent could sticky such a post (hint hint) it would be great for eliminating thewhiners crying about it. Don't blame us for usingsomething the dev's made a mistake on, especially after we tell them and they say that that's the way they wanted it.

bitch all you want blufker, its doubtful chargeshot1 is going to see a timer anytime soon. the combat system is getting a major overhaul slowly but surely (more slowly than surely) so your going to have to deal with it for at least a couple more months as i doubt the devs are going to converge on the red-headed stepchild of the ranged combat classes and nerf us into obscurity again.


since release, chargeshot has been without a timer with the exception of a brief period in which the devs reversed it because of THEIR vision of what the carbineer was.


where were you /win button fruity assed trolls months ago when chargeshot had no timer? why all of a sudden is it an issue now? your campaign to enlighten us poor ignorant saps of the carbineer forum about the inequities, exploits and overpowered-ness of this profession is so **edit**ing laughable the only reason im here right now is because this thread is good for at least one laugh a day. i have been a carbineer since BETA **edit**-tard, i think i speak for 99% of carbineers when i say we dont need you to enlighten us on the profession.

Ghostdawg why are u constantly on the carbineer board complaining about chargeshot? You say you want to see where a dev has said it is working as intended?


Can someone (novamarine) please repost the message directly from the devs saying it is working as intended? I know it was on here but I cant seem to find it.


I swear you think we are all making it up. I've been master carbineer for awhile now and I promise you we have been informed over and over that it is what it is.


DEAL WITH IT. Yes you pwn alot of people in PvP but quit crying that your template cant beat a Carbineer.

Like the previous post said, Go to another server make a carbineer and master it before SOE fixes it in the next months, then you will understand how overpowered we are (not!) Man....

blufker, try being a carbineer without buffs, without bh speed, and then tell us how great the carbineer profession is. You run out of ham every 5-7 shots before needing a heal. And plus, you shoot slow as hell except for the full auto shots. Also, carbines are the least accurate weapons. Why don't you try carbineer out with all these positive perks to being a carbineer before you come bitching on these boards again. YEAH!


The Devs said, charge shot was working as intended... know why? WE ARE THE**edit** CROWD CONTROL PROF. That is why we have high ham costs, it's a trade off... slow speed, high ham, perma kd. Now shut your pie hole and leave.

These boards are meant for discussion and thats exactly what i am doing. You keep dancing around the OBVIOUS facts here. The FACT : Carbineers can SPAM KD over and over and over and over. NOT even a 5 second timer on it.. This KD over and over was REMOVED from the game and a timer was placed to stop grieifing,. You can stand up and shoot right after the kd. The real kd effect of it only happens every thirty seconds. Damon(if you remember him on radiant...hah, he was a much more respected pvper than you GD) and I tested this and really charge shot, while good to keep your target away, isnt that great for pvp. The damage is insufficient and its effect is minimal. Really, its only good if you are in a group with someone who can dizzy and you can hit them with it and dizzy them before they try to get up.

I think someone may have already mentioned this but Chargeshot IS actually on a timer, the issue is that the animation is played each time the shot hits.


The target CAN still fire back (I've seen it done and I've done it myself) the ONLY limitation is that you cannot move.


The timer is on the standard 30 second cycle and each time you 'kd' a target while that timer is in effect you get the message 'you failed to knockdown your target'... etc.


And yes I recall seeing the dev post stating it is working as intended, do you think I can find the **edit** post though? Freakin murphies law...

chargeshot is definetely working as intended. Blukfer, you need to go whine and troll elsewhere.


I still get wasted when I spam chargeshot, usually because i'm trying to kite TKMs and they burstrun and dizzy/KD me. so while effective, its not the end all PvP move.

oh i get it now...its ok for carbineers to have KD every second, but not other professions. Ok just making sure I understand the carbineers logic here....

Also I am pistoleer and I do the least dmg out of ALL prof and my speed modifer is not much better than what a carbineer gets....yet my KD skill works 1 out of 5 times and even if it does work i cannot use it again for 30 seconds...I use to spam KD on others before the nerf and NO ONE can do a thing if they are getting KDed every time they stand up...Yet you guys feel its ok for a carbineer to have this blatant griefing tool at their disposal... Once again...its laughable



You know no-one told you to be a pistoleer. No one held a gun to your head and it was your f*cking choice. If you have a problem then just drop pistoleer and go carbineer. Quit all of your **edit** complaining. If you can't stop complaining how about becoming a master Architect. I am usually not like this and also I am not a carbineer, I just get tired of hearing 250,000 people that are playing SWG complain. Everyone is complaining about the DEV's but they are working on it as we have seen improvements. So if you don't like it please quit playiing for a few days/weeks/months. Who CARES!!
