Thread: Carbine Speed, why do we only get +60 at master?

Enhanced E11 junk? I disagree there. The big guns are way to slow to land the specials that apply our best state effects fast enough to be effective.

Bring that slow cannon of yours to a duel against me with a sub-second speed E11 and I'll tear you up. Not with monster damage, but with MORE damage because my shots are coming in faster. That slow carbine is getting off one shot for every three of mine, and there's a good chance you're missing me on most of those because of defenses.

Again, its also about play styles. I prefer a high rate of fire with state effects, where most people just want a bigger club to bash on their opponent's skull.

Why do I stand by state effects? Because they've given me wins against superior odds WITH buffs and uberarmor in the game. Adapt and win. What won duels before heavy armor and buffs are meaningless in the game now. Why do I stand for light and fast carbines? Because they land the state effects which can nullify the advantages of my enemy.

Good point. I go with the speed built into the weapon and supplement with +32% Min damage/16% Mind cost couplers (always a nice match when buffs handle Action and Health costs). Just my thing. I'd rather know I can count on the higher DPS at all times with the power ups just adjusting the DPS based on whether the power ups are there and what type of power up is there.

Don't think Iam knocking DXR6's or Elites. I still have a Krayt Elite Carbine that has a 2.0 (3.0 with a 32% speed slice), and a 123-200+damage that I still worship as a heavy hitter.

I also own a very well made stock Elite (3.5 speed)and stock DXR6(2.6 speed) that perform beautifully in PvE. I may make myself a slight hypocrite for admitting this, but I also have a stock Laser Carbine (speed sliced from 3.4 to 2.5 speed.). The four Krayt guns I owned until I picked up this latest one are all in the 300/400 or so condition range and I picked up a few other types to use for PvE missions.

Its only in PvP that I get antsy about consistent speed, the pace of combat just doesn't forgive you when you use a slower carbine with a speed power up and the dang thing dies in the middle of a running battle. Too many trips to the cloner have made me gunshy about slower weapons.

LOL. Yea tell me about it. Speed was the thing that initally turned me off on rifles. It was terrifying just waiting for that next shot to come along. And pistols never did enough damage for my taste. So I chose carbines as the reasonable alternative. Well...At the time I made that decision I also had a DH-17 short carbine that had a 2.2 AS lol.

We have way more accuracy than Pistols and rifles too!

I'm not sure it works out like that. I know it is supposed to be like that, but rifle is pretty accurate in all conditions at master. Pistols do miss a lot at range on autofire, but specials are more accurate than the skill mods would indicate they should be.

Personally i would have no problems at all with Carbines if we had an extra +10 to speed somewhere in the tree. I can live with the weapons (don't need stun). I like the specials even if they are redundant. I just can't live with the fact that i can't cap speed even with the full +25 tapes. As slow as swordsman is, you only need +18 to cap. This is the biggest issue we have IMO.
