Good news indeed, the vision sounded spot on imo. Maybe they will take it to heart and get something done. Kinda makes me sick to have most of the high end content either 100% protected to our damage types or not be able to land states. Did shock the hell outta me the other day when I caught aggro from a kimo and put him on his arse with a kd...bought me enough time to have my tkm partner redraw the aggro ![]()
Dont post here often, but wanted to say thanks for the update and good vision.

One ideaI read about, last year I think, for a new carbine, was the 'cryobine'; acold damage carbine. It was a BH suggestion I think, but I figured i'd mention it here, and there is no reason why both professions can't have it. Perhaps light AP cold damage, with stats more like an elite carbine, but perhaps a shorter ideal range and better point blank accuracy.
The variation might be nice, and the only two cold weapons in the game get very little use. Would be nice to change that, and while it may be more resisted than stun damage, i'm sure it would have some uses.
I would say its not our 'limited' damage types that are our undoing in high end PvE content, but it'sactually our lack of armour piercing. Its a shame that that is the deciding factor in high end combat, and while we are better off than the poor pistoleers, we can't compete with heavy AP energy and medium AP acid of riflemen. Of course, this wouldn't be an issue, if we could apply meaningful states,as thendebuffing would our contribution to combat, not raw damage.

Its good to know they are listening, but did they hear what you had to say? This write up of yours is an awesome piece of work from our perspective because its telling us exactly what we've been after from Day 1, pretty much. How its received by a group of people known for bypassing player feedback to pursue their own agenda (not that this is a bad thing, but they've been known to hold their ground when at odds with player desires regardless of the individual merit of those desires) is something a little more complicated to consider.
Well received is good news, well acceptedis the Holy Grail.

I think the devs are trying to change that to listen to the player base more. After the image designer and smuggler revamp fiasco, I noticed that a dev, GreenMarine, is already getting input and feedback for the smugger's revamp on the general smuggler's forum (as opposed to some de facto"member's only" Correspondent's orIn Concept forum), and that is not scheduled for several months.
I am hoping this is a general trend, and not a single dev trying to appease a single profession...

just a side note, but the laser carbine is medium ap, i thought.

Yes, Yes, it is. However, you will find that in the mid- to high-level game almost everything has AR1 50% energy or better. The Devs have made some of the best weapons in the game energy and then negated them by giving extremely good energy resistance to almost every mob in the game.

I have a great Carbineer vision that...includes bayonets!
Mainly because Bayonets were designed for the purpose so ranged opponents can still fight in Melee, and it suits our "accuracy while moving," and "assault" concepts...
But anywho...our vision is kind of skewed because no one knows anything about future publishes.

Great work!
Interesting that you want a electricity damage carbine and not stun damage which most people want. We are not the only profession without a stun weapon, TK, Pikeman and Swordsman have none either. I agree with you, this seems to fit the profession better than getting stun (which will be nerfed anyway). Would make Carbineer more wanted in Corvette/DWB (also nice against Droidikas).
I think that being able to land state effect on higher-level targets is a must and this does also apply to other classes. The only state that works on almost any target is Intimidate (also the easiest to get; can use intimidate with carbines if you have nov brawler).

I can deal with the occasional "super beast" such as an Ancient Krayt or a Giant Kimo that can resist pretty much all of my states, but I do feel that as the master of 2 and a half elite combat professions, there shouldn't be any sort of humanoid that I can NEVER land a state on. Yes, it should be hard to land a state such as stun on a high level NS, but it should be something that I have at least a 10-20% chance of doing to at least 70-80% of the NSs I face. The way I see it, the only edge a NS should have on me is the use of force powers. Other than that, it should be a fairly even fight.
