That is a really interesting template. Can you comment on your use of pistols? Do you? Is torsoshot or stoppingshot your main special for PvE use. Or did you just get that line for defenses.

Do you think that StimDs are really that useful?

I never use pistols in PvE. A good laser carbineand dxr6 with FullAutoArea2and Crippleshot is all you need for most PvE. LLC if I need electric damage. I have some amazingly good geo sonics for PvP though, which is great for taking out people with low mind. I actually have Stim Es with 1133 base 40 med use. I picked medic up because of jedi. They deal alot of damage quickly to a BH w/o defenses so it helps keep me alive an extra few seconds. If I decided someday that I dont like medic 0040 I'll go back to MBH/ Carbineer 0404/ Pistoleer 0340 / Brawler.

I think its worth mentioning here that as a MBH / Mcarbineer your melee defense is +2 and your ranged defense is +47. State defenses are pretty much non-existant, so controlling an opponent is essential and is actually doable once you get the hang of it.

krayt geo > any krayt carbine for pvp. yes there are stun psg's but they only last 2 or 3 shots. if your opponent has effectiveness-sliced composite it more than likely has 90% resist to energy, acid, and heat while stun is only at 30-40% max. krayt geo is around 150-350 damage, which is going to bebetter than a DE-10 which deals energy damage. you may be able to kd and dizzy your opponent but you aren't going to do much damage with any of the carbines. try dueling a master rifleman/tkm who has thakitillo in his system, you aren't going to do anything.

Only if you have eyeshot otherwise you are only good against weekend warrior PvP'ers. Thanks to the proliferation of melee professions ESPECIALLY fencers and their stun batons, full stun armor with high basehas becomethe norm. Only a fool or a not too smart PvP'er is going to wear armor withOUT stun protection, the risk is too great. Stun damage is the big boogyman of all damages. It scares you to death and horrible stories are created about it. Then you figure it out and brush it off when you're prepared for it. Fencer's with acklay stun batons have the same damage output problem against stun armor.

You can eyeshot with a krayt geo against a stun helmet and I'll cripple, torso, fireKD, against their stun comp with a krayt elite. The carbine is going to outclass that pistol easy.

You cant slash a fencers CoB and dodge with a pistol but you can with a carbine (stun state). You cant KD/dizzy with a pistol but you can with carbines (omg the combo's you can type).

I get nightmares about BH's with krayt DE-10's. Where is the carbineer version? Hopefully one of those new pic's turn's out to be a heavy hitter.

Great thread, I've been trolling a bit to pick up info as I completely demolished my prior template and started from scratch. I really missed my carb and I'm trying to get the most out of it with BH on top. Some real interesting mixes above, I've spent about an hour on that template calculator and haven't even thought of some of those combos, especially the medic 0040(think thats what it was).

Now don't get me wrong, I'm 0104 carb, 0301 BH and some scattered crap left over...but, even though I'm having a ball laying the waste down with my carb (I can't wait to get crippleshot back), I'm disapointed at the glaring lack of speed for just master carbs. I think some of the speed should really be backed out of the BH line and given to the carbine skill tree. Esp. given any BH wanting to use a carbine will grab some boxes anyway, I don't see how that would affect the profession. Just a lil side thought, I've known it, but now I've seen it and it makes little sense to me.

Otherwise, for the original poster, you do need a lil of both imo. The more state defenses you can grab the better, thankfully you grab the geo cert along the way for pistols. Get your accuracy high in both, and if you play your target the right way there is nothing you can't handle. Past that your most importaint choice is food.

Now, if you do alot of group PvP raids or defending...The carb is irreplaceable, the damage output in a group situation is nuts and your front line tends to love seeing their target fall down without them hitting their own KD, the thought is generally along the lines of "ohhweee!!"

Pistols I haven't played with much but I'm heading there soon, need a couple more LLC boxes. But if ya got a good one and your target has closed ground, you are good to go by pulling it out, between dodge and saber block the concensus seems to beg that your accuracy be as high as possible under any circumstance.

So yea, as said above and reaffirmed, both. It is the very intention of BH to be proficient in the weapons provided.

I think both pistols and carbines are useful. Currently I'm MBH, Pistols 0044, Carbines 4400. With a good gun I don't even need specials most of the time PvE. If I'm up against something tough I usually go dizzy, fire knockdown, and then lay on every carbine bleed I've got. By the time the mob is up, I've got my pistol out and I set them aflame with torso shot and lay on some pistol bleeds if I have time. If they've got a low mind pool I eyeshot them to extintion. If not I fanshot 'em or switch back to carbine for cripple shot. If things get really nasty I can always whip out the LLC.

I haven't done a lot of PvP, but I've been fairly successful lately with the PvP I've engaged in. For the first time in this game I feel like I can hold my own. And anything that I can't hold my own against, I can at least mess it up enough to give myself an escape route. Between BH, carbines, and pistols you get a pretty handy array of special shots. I'll never have a DE-10, but I think the tradeoff is worth it for me.
