I still haven't been able to test this myself, but apparently if max damage is capped you can still slice for damage to further raise the minimum damage...

when fighting defender templates a weapon's max damage is fairly irrelevant.

anyone thinks even(if ever introduced) lvl54 kineticcarbine (even craftable) will ever outdamage nyms in pvp ? i think its very hard to get over 500 min dmg (best slugs have above530 min dmg)if the carbine isnt elemental and its all about min dmg in pvp most of the time (at least in vs jedi pvp )

As for slicing the Nym's, I think full 12 % on Speed is the only way to go. A substantial amount of the damage comes from the 175 elemental and this won't be effected by a damage slice. Speed is the only thing that utilizes the full potential.

I fully agree. What i am still undecided about is, if it's better to go with a SAC pup, or to use the PuP which reduces regular damage a bit but noticeably increases energy damage.

With the second, i am bound to use ranged shot more, so the regular damage drops off even more, but elemental damage is not mitigated by melee or ranged defence and thus can perhaps more than make up for that. I am testing, but up to now wasn't really able to conclude for myself, if it's worth it or not.

Why use a nym's? Wouldn't an elite that tops out at just under 1,200 damage be better?

1.200 dmg O.o w/o pup its too much with pup its too low elite caps at 1.063 so with good dmg pup about 1.380 (more ppl use sac pup not dmg pup)

nyms =

kinetic (not affected by psg) weapon

with high elemental dmg (-> high minimum dmg - over 530 best ones)

=>best for jedi-huntin BHs

A capped Elite can't do as much damage as a Nym's against an opponent who is wearing a PSG with 2k+ Energy resists. Since the Nym's is Kinetic it will bypass the PSG without any damage reduction. Also, since it has such a high Elemental damage (~175) you're in effect attacking with a 500+ minimum damage weapon. This is important whenever fighting any defense stacked template as Defense currently scales your weapons damage output towards the minimum if your target's defense is substantially higher than your accuracy.

Here's my Nym's Slug-Thrower i ran 17 times back & forth from Nym's Stronghold to the Lab. Thankfully, there is a Player City nearby with a Shuttle.

I'm stuned how effective this weapon is in PvP especially against Jedi. The min damage is very high thus hit very hard.

I was using a damage caped Elite untill now but the min damage is 432. I still use it for PvE.

I spawnedthisNym after about 6 runs. all the others were crap, but this one seemed pretty decent. Should I keep it or should I keep going for cap? This hasn't been sliced or puped yet either.

PvE: Your Elite

PvP: Your Nyms.

In PvE you have a good chance to get higher than minimum damage, giving your Elite some good use. Damage type doesn't matter there.

In PvP chances are high that you're standing against targets with high energy resist, if they are in primus layered armour, acid is your big ace. Also, in PvP you're more likely to stand against high-defense targets, so your minimum damange matters most.
