If I could, then I wouldn't need the pets, would I?

Well to me CH is just Defense Stacking for PvE like Fencer is Defense Stacking for PvP

I also liken them to buffs. One way or another, I have several thousand more HAM between me and a cloning center.

Well thanks for the advice everyone. You have a new regular to your forum now . I'm starting up the Carbine tree and look forward to seeing you all around. One last question: Because I am a MCH and am starting up the Carbineer path, I will obviously have a few points left over. Any advice on what to put those into?

I would suggest Novice Brawler and some Medic. Use Intimidate from 30m along with Stun and Blind to make your pets last even longer

I would absolutely agree with taking at least Novice Medic, because pet stims aren't very commonly crafted, pet stims have a higher healing delay between stims (15 seconds static delay), and unless you're fighting some Rifleman opponents (PC or NPC) you probably won't have to worry about healing your pet's mind pool during combat, so pet tricks will suffice. Also, people stims let you heal yourself as well as your pet. I would rather take more medic skills than Novice Brawler, though, since you can just have a pet spam it's own intimidate attack. I think you'd be better off with Pharmacology 3 or 4, for Stimpack C and Stimpack D, and some First Aid skills.

I have a Wookiee who's a Master Rifleman, and almost a Master Creature Handler, and I'll tell you right here and now that a good tanking pet (Light armor, 45-60% Kinetic Resistance, 10k HAM) attacking a lair while you spray them all down with a T-21 using StrafeShot2 is one of the fastest ways I know to kill loads of creatures simultaneously. While Carbines don't have nearly as much armor piercing ability as a T-21 (T-21 is AP3), I was able to do very well with a regular Laser Rifle (AP2), which is practically a cookie-cutter copy of a Laser Carbine. You just have to find targets that aren't vulnerable to your weapon's damage type (vulnerability = no damage bonus from AP!) who have just enough resistance to make that AP damage kick in but not enough resistance to negate too much of the added damage.
