Mastering multiple ranged professions is generally good.
Why? You stack important mods like General Ranged Accuracy & General Ranged Speed. These 2 General mods apply to ALL Ranged weapons you choose.
The higher the speed, in combination with your character's inherent Rifle/Pistol/Carbine mods with the proper weapon, allows faster attacks. HOWEVER, there is a sort of Speed Cap imposed by the cooldown/warmup/delays of specials. Once you've mastered your ranged professions, Speed is no longer the overriding factor.
The higher the accuracy, not only do you hit more often, but you hit HARDER. The situation with Accuracy is almost the same as with Speed, but one huge difference: You can never have too much accuracy, esp. as a Master. There's no "invisible wall" as in Speed.

True, however tests have indicated you begin to reach the point of diminishing returns at around 260 accuracy. I checked myself by /respecing into Master Marksman, Master Carbineer, Master BH, Pistoleer x3xx, which gave me a total of 295 accuracy with Carbines, and there was no significant gain over my previous accuracy of around 265. The PoDR for speed seems to be around the 140-150 mark, after that the gain is literally in hundredths of a second.
Im actually considering switching out of BH myself, as Im effectively using up an entire profession for a Adv. Critical and Underhand Shot. I can achieve almost the same defense, general speed and general accuracy using a carbine/smuggler/pistoleer template, and I end up with some far more...interesting specials
