general consensus is rifle for extra range and dmg.... BUT consider the fact that this is usually in conjunction with BH specials, which apply "money shots" (anytime use high dmg shots)and KD/blind/confuse.

Since Carbineer has some money shots, some KD power, and snare, as well as the most "logical" kind of range (not too far away to make LOS hard to line up, not soclose they can reach out and grab your ass), it could easily be added to a support template.

Generally Im thinking unless you are a BH template, you are a support template, but thats just me. Generally because smuggler is CC based, and Commando, well... they arent very happy right now, so im not even going to F with making a commando based template.

So what are the choices to bolster your weapon skill, speed and accurracy? If its damage you want, its all BH.

Everything else... is jedi

Dont get me wrong, Carbineer/doctor/marksman should be a decent template; enough firepower to make yourself felt... and healing power well... you can at least keep yourself alive for quite some time, and anyone else who isnt stupid enough to leave your side.

Heck Mcarb/Mdoc and CM4000 should be one hell of a support guy, with enough firepower and healing power to hold your own for those solo occassions. Perfect ranges, some decent shots, and decent heals.

Etiquette lessons #1; never use caps in your whole header or post.
#2; if a post/thread really pisses you off ... kill it with silence
#3; never write a post more than 3 paragraphs- unless it a guide
#4; never say "sticky this," others will if its worth a sticky.
#5; in the heading never say "devs please read."
#6; never ask for a rollback, just wont happen.
#7; Never use too many colors.
#8; Avoid quoting quotes of quotations, he said she said who said??

Carbines. Although Rifles have some benefits... Carbiens takes the cake.

I'm a MCarb/MCM/Doc4000 and love it. I tried everything else too. this is the way to go for support and even an ass whooping if you need to.

If you are going for a single ranged combat elite only then carbines is an excellent choice. It has a kd, snare, delay, area attack and a money shot. It fits really well as the ranged combat piece of doctor, cm, creature handler etc etc.

If you are planning to go dual elite with BH, then I think rifles or pistols and dabbling in carbines as the 3rd is the best option.

My armorsmith is dropping tailor and going master armorsmith, artisan, merchant, master carbines so that I can quest on rotw and still craft

My long time ranger/tka has gone MBH, Master Marks, Master Rifles, carbines 0300 and she is loving it. Really sad to say goodbye to ranger as I have been one for over a year but the new template lets my harvest hide quicker and also be as tough as my ranger/tka used to be in pve.

Virtually every working ranger skill is being given to the other professions and so they is little left now that is unique apart from the title . If ranger ever does get a revamp that actually makes it what ranger should be then I will be one of the first to regrind it.

Kreen - Armorsmith+2, Artisan, Merchant, Master Carbineer. RIS Certified
Moeru - The all new SOE harvesting template MBH, MRifles Pistols 0404. (Goodbye Master Ranger until the revamp)

I did Master Marksman / Master Carbineer / Master Rifleman / Pistoleer 0004

Having my T21 equipped and doing Improved Full Auto Area is awesome. 64m range and wide firing arc... SWG's SAW Gunner.

I disagree, and would say that a MBH, MC with rifle dabbling would be superior. Why? Because unless you really, really want to spend your time crawling in the dirt invisible in PvP, Rifleman is pretty useless at the moment. Snipershot is a great opener, but unless you;re in a group it's not really that useful.

My template is MBH, MC, Rifleman 4xx4 and Im loving it. Excellent speed and accuracy with both Carbines and Rifles, all the nice specials from BH and Carbineer, plus Improved Snipershot if I ever feel like a little nuking.

Riflemen can dish out some damage, but only when they are at max range or undetected. If I fight a rifleman one on one and he doesn't have me at max range I can tear him a new one every time. Carbines fire faster than rifles and when paired with BH you have 2 KD's on different timers, a nice snare to keep them from gaining or closing range and leg shot which can dish out as much damage as any rifle special. The worst part about carbinesis the high action cost, but when hasn't that been a disadvantage to carbines?

In the end though it comes down to personal preference and how you play. Personally I like to mix it up close enough where I can see their face, but not so close that I am eating their vibroknucklers.

What are the timers for charge and underhand shots? I thought both were on the same timer. Also, does the advance firearm strike have a different timer from those 2 too? If so,what is it? Thks.

I'd say it depends on what you're going to couple with it. BH/Carbines is very much a FOTM right now. Everyone loves that. But, BH/Rifles and BH/Pistols is very popular, too.

I'm Smuggler/Carbines and loving it. In fighting our guild jedi last night, I was the only one who could hurt him at all. The others were Commando/TK with a bit o' BH and Doc/Carbine

I chose Carbines over BH for the Battle Armor cert (I love my ST and Clone Armor) and for the E11-Mark 2 which has been a total favorite weapon. I've definitely loved Smuggler/Carbines over Smuggler/BH.
