Thread: What's your most powerful DPS carbine?

Heh, you misunderstand, my heavy hitting hammer is a conversion E11 Mark II with a 574 modified DPS in my hot little hands.
I can get mine to 780 Modified DPS.....but that doesn't mean diddly because it isimproving the Weapon Speed and the Cooldown/Cycle Timers work as effective speed caps.....hence looking at DPS on the Weapon Examine Window is quite misleading at times.

Um, whomever is spouting this "DPS doesn't matter" has a few screws loose. A weaponsmith on my server tried to sell me that line and gave me an accuracy enhanced E11 Mk II with a modified DPS of about 370 in my hands and when I used it in PvP last night, I was wasted without accomplishing anything. I then swapped in my old school high speed, heavy hitting hammer and for the next two PvP assaults, managed to incapacitate no less than 8 people in thesecond battle and managed to incap two people when I walked right into an Imperial ambush and died inside of a minute.
Max damage just tells you how hard you can really hit in one shot, which is meaningless when you're probably competing against a long recycle timer. There's precious little out there you're going to kill in one hit anywhere and get anything meaningful in xp. DPS is a much better indicator of performance, even in PvE, because its not how hard you hit the target, its how fast you put them down.
My best is a 567 DPS conversion job of a pre-CU uber Enhanced E11 into an E11 Mark II
I am afraid I have to call you out on this one.....DPS does NOT matter once you hit enough Carbine Speed.....that is A FACT and well documented in other profs too. The cycle time on Specials hits a cap quite early in the Carbine Speed curve so a weapon that has increased DPS due to weapon speed is a waste. The statement 'DPS doesn't matter' just needs to be clarified for what circumstances it means......a weapon with increased DPS due to min/max damage does NOT fall under this statement.
thank you TA. Nice explanation. I forget some people aren't full carbine templates and may not have the high speed.
To a high speed toon 120+ (I am at 136 atm) max damage is more important
just curious if anyone else has noticed while we are on the subject of DPS..
last night while fighting with my proton carbine i noticed that when i hit a Mob.. i did the exact same damage every single time.. and i'm not just talking 3 or 4 times..
eg. when i was doing a mission that required me to collect 38 webweaver something or other i probably killed 45+ of these creatures and every single time i hit, it was for the exact same amount of damage..
does the damage range even work anymore?
when i look at my carbine's stats there is a min and max damage but i seem to be dealing the same damage amount instead of a range..

Well that is one of the CU changes, no random damage anymore......check the CU Docs as this has been in since very early Beta and working as intended. Personally I think it sucks but its not my call
ok gladto get that cleared up.. but that leaves the question..
which range on the damage meter is the correct one? the upper or the lower range

Neither, it is a function of min/max/accuracy/defense/CL/etc. I haven't had time to test anything lately and haven't figured it out yet.

i saw somewhere on some board (yah i know i really don't remember where)
((min+max)/2+(accuracy-defense(other person)))*damage multiplier
don't know if its right but i did see it somewhere

Tough to test in PvE ![]()
I just haven't started doing any tests in PvP yet.

I have an E11 that's at 602 modified, 351 unmodifiedand can get up to 865dps with a good speed PuP. The SAC isn't terrible at 96, but I'm giving that one up for an Elite with 78 SAC, and max damage of 1060.
And I curse you for beating me to it! /chlorophorm Qum
My e11 /2 is at 820 pupped but still the proton that is faster do more damage over time than it and the proton is at 530 dps for me.
Thinking the whole concept of DPS is retarded. If i use the e11 i dont get alot of aggro, swap to proton and the mobs love me more than the tank -> i become the tank instead of the tank if i open up with it in groups.
