Thread: Carabineer weapon experimentation preferences?
Stats don't affect your speed.
You have three HAM bars, Health Action and Mind. Each HAM bar has three stats, Hit Points (primary), Drain Rate, and Regen Rate (secondaries). Your Drain Rate affects how much specials cost, and your Regen Rate affects how fast you recover 5 points of damage.
They have nothing to do with speed. Speed is improved with modifier as you climb the tree. +5 in this box, +5 in that box, ect. Each +1 is 1% faster that you shoot the weapon. So at Master Carbineer, you have +65 speed, and therefore shoot 65% faster.
Cripple shot has a 2.5 speed modifier, so your gun's speed is multiplied by 2.5.
Say you have a 3.5 Laser Carbine, and use Cripple Shot. 3.5x2.5=8.75. Your speed is +65, so you multiply by .35 to find out what you'll spam Cripple at. 8.75x .35=3.0625. So basically, with a 3.5 you'll shoot it every three seconds. With a DH17Short, at 2.4, you'll shoot Cripple 2.1. So you're not going to be spamming cripple very fast.
I havn't figured out Regen yet, but in case you were wondering how Drain works...
You take the HAM cost of a weapon (lets use a DH17Short): 25/27/13. Multiply by the HAM cost modifier... (cripple is .8/1.4/.8). So you have 20/37.8/10.4.
Then you take your drain rate and divide it by 1500. So if your drain rate is 350, divided by 1500 you get .23. So, 23% will be taken off of the cost of the special. .77(20/37.8/10.4)= 15.4/29.1/8.
So if you have a weapon with 25/27/13 HAM cost, and your drain rate is 350, your HAM will drain by 15.4 health, 29.1 action, and 8 mind for each cripple shot. Here is the equasion:
Weapon HAM multiplied by Special Modfier=X
Drain Rate divided by 1500=Y
X multiplied by (1.0 subtract Y)=Ham Cost
.The drain calculations are interesting... would they mean that if a carabineer can get thair secondary stats to 1500 with buffs they would loose NO HAM no mater how many specials they spammed?

What do you mean? How do I know what the special multiplier is? How do I know which stat is the drain rate? Please be specific...
Yes, Tarnak, if your drain rates are 1500 or more, there is NO ham cost on your specials, no matter what the gun's ham cost or the special modifiers.
Katan, if you have full armor on, your drain won't be more then 50. With a hit of BoH and veghash, that bumps it up to 800 max. Trying to spam cripple shot with a 80 action HAM Elite Carbine will still drain you hard. And that's using your food and drink to buff drain. Then you have nothing to buff mind or drain or anything else, quite a waste. A DH17 has less then 1/3 of the ham cost, and if you get it right it's not near as bad.
Like I said, DH17short with no ham scope for not buffed (hit BoH and you can spam cripple) and stocked and scoped Elite for when your buffed.
