Sorry, you're right. My goal is to fire once per second, not exceed the cap because from what we all know, this is impossible.

I will look at the time stamp and see if I can see if Cripple is going off at once per second. The one statement that I believe to be true (with no hard evidence mind you) is this:

With+97 Speed(Master Carb/ no Master Marksman/ +25 SEAs/ +12 Force Speed), I am firing my FAS2 noticeably faster than my Cripple with a 3.8 speed Laser. This shouldn't be the case as you allhave said. The 2 should fire at the same rate.

When I go back to my 2.7 Speed Carb, I fire FAS2 and Cripple at what appears to be the same speed.

Again I'll test this a bit today but I'm not so hot at taking screenies and stuff- sorry!

OK, I just logged on and did some initial testing using the time stamp. Sorry, I just don't know how to use screenies but you'll have to take my word on this. Here's some examples of what I found.

Again +85 speed with +12 Force Ranged Speed

Using 2.7 Speed Carb

The time stamp went like this using Cripple (exact verbage not important, just times):

12:30:00 Fired Cripple Shot for...

12:30:01 Fired Cripple Shot for...

12:30:02 Fired Cripple...

12:30:03 Fired Cripple...

The time stamp went like this for FAS2

12:30:00 Fired Full Auto...

12:30:01 Fired Full Auto...

12:30:02 Fired Full Auto...

12:30:03 Fired Full Auto...

This makes sense- I am at the cap with a 2.7 speed carb, firing once per second-we know that already.

Now, in theory, if I use my 3.8 speed carb, the results should be the same, but this is what I found.

Using FAS2 with 3.8 speed carb:

12:30:00 Fired Full Auto...

12:30:01 Fired Full Auto...

12:30:02 Fired Full Auto...

12:30:03 Fired Full Auto...

Again, once per second...

Now, using crippleshot with the 3.8 speed carb, I saw a distinct difference:

12:30:00 Fired Cripple Shot for...

12:30:01 Fired Cripple Shot for...

12:30:03 Fired Cripple...

12:30:04 Fired Cripple...

12:30:05 Fired Cripple...

12:30:07 Fired Cripple...

Every 3rd or 4th shot was at 2 seconds instead of the one, so this leads me to believe that I was at 1.4 seconds or whatever the above calculations were.

Conclusions: The FS Ranged Speed does not stack with the skill mods. It is either broken or not intended to work like this. Or, yet another possibility, did the programmers hold off on this until the correct phase shift, i.e. will this work in a couple months when Phase 4 comes to be?

Again sorry I can't do screenies, but I tested this and got consistent results. Please post if you find the same thing (or something different). Here's my whine: that sucks, and I'm disappointed it didn't stack!

Over in the commando forum there is word that the speed mods may be broken. If they work for some they might not work for others. Might even be simply a typo in the code which is not applying the speed mods to certain speed skills. Or last but not least it could be lag, though the multiple testing would seem to knock that out the box.

Someone said that there was a problem initially with meele speed, prolly the same lines as what you are seeing.

Anyway, I shoulda read the village manual. Reflexes=speed...nooooo, now I get to grind out survival, damm the harvest and terrain being the top boxes

sorry to bust in on your forums. i've got a rifleman and a swordsman. 2 different chars. i think i can offer some perspective.

my swordsman trained up in enhanced melee speed. before enhanced melee speed, headhit3 using a 5.5 speed power hammer was at once per 3 seconds (twohanded speed = +80). after i picked up melee speed with 1 of my free unlocks, i am hitting headhit3 at once per 1.1 seconds. if you plug this into your speed equations, this is equiv to 2handed speed +92.

riflemen with +90 speed that got ranged speed are reporting that they are still shooting strafeshot2 at once per 2.5 seconds (no change).

i am a rifleman with +97 speed (master marks and +2 in SEAs), and i shoot SS2 at once per sec.

some riflemen who trained in BOTH enhanced ranged and melee speed are reporting that they are shooting at the speed cap. this has led me to believe that the enhance melee speed tree is not only working for melee weapons, but ranged as well.

You're not mistaking the animation for FAS2 to be 3 shots, are you? The animation for FAS2 is a 3 round burst, whereas the animation for Crippling Shot is a single burst. This has lead people in the past to believe that FAS2 is firing faster than Crippling Shot even while both are speed capped. You must pay attention to this fact when testing, as it can lead to erroneous numbers if you don't.

For a Buckeye fan, he has good thoughts. I was about to point this out as well.

Also, the timestamp does unfortunately lie because lag effects it.

*If* you ping to server is really awesome, I suggest firing on a lair 10 times and time it. It will either take 10 seconds or 12-15 seconds. With a stopwatch, you will easily be able to distinguish.

We have stumbled upon the classic problem of not having a real test center where you have instant access to all skills, resources and equipment. The only way to test is to grind and why grind on test? I could go on why we have this silly problem, but I will close my mouth now...

--Actually, I first noticed the difference by watching the rate of the specials scroll down in the combat queue. Yeah, I realize the animation is different, but I wasn't paying attention to that. As for lag, I was standing in the middle of nowhere firing at single animals from far away (note I was not attacked while I payed attention to the time stamp), so I doubt it was a factor, unless the cripple animation causes lag- but this would have shown up with my faster 2.7 carb right? With that carb it was firing at once per second.

Ranged Speed from FS Skills appears to be broken.

Some of my guildies (Rifleman ironically) who got the FS bonus to Speed +12 Ranged Speed hit their specials the exact same with regular +90 Rifle speed, when they take all their tapes and enhancements off.

They've /bugged it, but no word yet.
