+90 Carbine Speed caps a 4.0 speed Carbine.....per the FAQ section done by some guy named TAfirehawk....and per that link you gave even....
That DPS Calculator rounds the numbers, but they are shown in BLACK which Specials are not capped at4.2

no, it caps at 2 or 3... unless you have master BH
I find PD's just as ineffective as KD's nowadays

Humm...AdmiralSpy, I don't know about the need for melee as I have duel'ed several TKM's and have pwned them. The only TKM that gives me a hard time is the ones with MD behind that TKM. ![]()
If they are totaly melee stack, I use my 107-573 Laser Carbne against them. If they have ranged mitigation, I use my 232-396 DXR6. I have found ganks not fun. However, 1-vs-1 is VERY fun for me.

I don't know, I'm kinda skeptic. All it takes is for someone to intimidate you and you're done. That's it.
Counterattack is gone, damage is cut in half (for Carbineers that's a terrible thing) and all you can do is land a few states and posture changes.. with KD/PD timers, that's like once every 30 seconds.. what do you do in the meantime?

Personally, I'm Master Carbineer and Master Fencer. The only ranged build which gives me trouble are Rifle/Docs.. at which point I simply try to get up close and use a Stun Baton.
Going pure ranged is a good thing in large groups.. but there will be a situation where some melee'r comes up to you.. and to me that's just asking for a beatdown, heh. My concern isn't so much with TKMs as it is with Fencers or even Swordsmen. A Carbineer has a tough time against a Fencer, especially if he/she is stacked with Pistoleer defenses (which most are.) If they have Master Brawler in that, the game is over.
Depends on your style of play though. While I almost exclusively group up for PvP, I also like to be independant should the need arise.. mastering both a ranged and melee profession and having significant medic (0040) assures that much at the very least.
My template is Master Carbineer/BH 0440/Pistoleer 0040/Novice Brawler.

Back to useful information.
I find a nice template to combine BH 3400 and master carbines is fencer 0400. It costs more skill points then 0040 pistoleer, but I find it works just as well. The downside of course is no eyeshot with the geo using the BH and pistols skills.
