i see carbineer more as a support profession in PvP. you'll come across people that cannot be knocked down oe damaged by your weapons. not everyone has 90% comp armor but if you're fighting anyone that's a doc/comat profession they'll prob end up winning unless scattershot2 get's their mind first. it's definately not a profession that you'd run around solo trying PvP solo. ganking is a different story

I would go for carbineer 1404 (since eyeshot will do more mind damage than scatter shot)You might want to drop some pistoleer and put the spare points into more carbineer, novice medic or novice brawler (for intimidate). Carbineers KD's/PD's are great but the majority of people in pvp have very high defence so the likelihood of you actually kd'ing someone are pretty slim . Still, when you do fight someone without huge defence it works great

Don't bother getting the 4xxx. With BH carbs, your speed capped at 1xxx I think.

Hello all, I am just retunring from a month break or so after the hologrind killed my will to play. I always wanted to try pvping, and carbineer was one of my favorite profressions. What I'm wondering is, is it a viable pvp profression. So far I think my template will look something like this.

Carbineer 4/3/0/4 (speed/accuracy/specials)

Master Pistoleer (speed/accuracy/specials/defense)

BH 0/4/4/0 (added specials, accuracy, and speed)

I hear that carbineer specials are some of the best, especially the BH ones. I also hear that with that carbineer combo I would be getting the speed and accuracy I need, but still keeping the pistoleer defenses which are better. Some say they are not the best damage out putters because they do not use a stun gun or have a mind attack, but that their knockdown specials outweigh the damage. I don't plan on being "the best" pvper, but I want people to think of me as a asset to their team, even if it means I knock people down for the riflemen. So are the knockdowns and other specials usable? Also, is that the right template I should use?

Anyways, can anyone help me out with my template. Is it worth it or not, do I have to much pistoleer and not enough carbineer? Also, what are some good tactics for a carbineer.

Any help would be appreciated, and criticize me as much as you want, but try to keep it productive please.

Thanks

Ok guys, thanks for the help. Yea I wouldn't be planning on winning battles alone, I would act as more of a support profression, but if you guys say the knockdown attacks don't really work I don't know =/

Well thanks for the input, keep bringing it, and you will most likely see a new carbineer on these boards.

The KD's DO work, as good as any KD anyway..It's just you wont be KD'ing the vast majority of pvpers since they all have such high defence

The only pitfall I see with this is a lack of melee. This template works great against Ranged opponents and Doc/CMs.. but go against anything that's considered melee and you're down pretty quick.

While keeping Master Pistoleer and the BH Pistols line is really up to you, I don't generally advise people to double up on ranged professions.. you're only able to take on 50% of the PvPers out there.

actually, your wrong

with BH 0400 and Carbineer 1000
You have a speed of +90.
With this you can speed cap the slowest special on a 4.2 speed gun.

sorry for not being a know it all. i was subject to the understanding that 100speed is the cap for speed. you proved me wrong. /shrug. i have better things to do with my time than become a whizz at the games stat aspect. I'd appreciate it if you could refrain from telling me not to post. forums are for learning and if people like you are telling me not to post, it defeats the point.

From what I see from the report your skills look like this.

Carbine Accuracy +145
Carbine Accuracy While Moving +20
Carbine Speed +105

Pistol Accuracy +155
Pistol Accuracy While Standing +15
Pistol Accuracy While Moving +30

Defense vs Dizzy +40
Defense vs Posture Change +20
Defense vs Blind +40
Devense vs Knockdown +50
Defense vs Stun +40
Melee Defense +47
Ranged Defense +22
Ranged Mitigation +3
Alertness +10

With a few attachments in clothing and armor and the right weapons you would be a great assault trooper. With your Carbine abilities you can status your targets, position change, and knock down. Or you could be a close in fighter using your pistols with some nice point blank power ups to rip into the enemy close range. Your optimum targets would be the melee classes or another Pistoleer not as well equipped as you or another Carbineer with a poor defense template. In other words you would be a valued part of any assault team. I know I would use you.

There is a sticky at the top of the page that has this information. It is part of the basic info every profesion should know.

This informatin is readily availible, so it shouldnt need to be asked about in the first place, but to give false information is very disrespectful of you. Really, if you don't know the answer, let someone who does answer instead.

Guys, please stop the agruing, I hope we can all just be friends and drop the subject, as in, not a single new post about that, but thanks for all the help. I think I will do this, but might not go all the way so I can get some medic. Thanks again guys.

The only reason knockdown attacks don't work well in PvP is because most people prepare for it with high def vs kd and thak. Now posture down attacks, on the other hand.... get yourself a high accuracy DoTE11 and become familiar with Action Shot 2. It works wonders in group PvP.
