Thread: Master Bounty Hunter should add Carbineer or Pistoleer or Both?
Why Combat Prowess 4400? With Bounty Hunter, you already have plenty of speed and accuracy. Enhanced Reflexes 4400 would be more useful in my opinion.

My template (and I love it so very much)
Master Bounty Hunter
Carbineer 0404
Pistoleer 0040
Medic or Brawler (Whichever I need at the time)
Combat Prowess 4400
Enhanced Reflexes 0040 (When I unlock it)
Although without the FS skills I'd probably either get 0440 Pistoleer, or drop the novice medic/brawler, drop down to 0030 Pistoleer and master carbineer.

LLC, and you can't quite cap stoppingshot. Actually you can't quite cap crippleshot but I have a tape. Mostly I have it in case I ever drop BH.
All reports I have heard is that the FS Ranged Speed doesn't work......any tests yet?

As far as I can tell, it doesn't work at all. Kinda dissapointing but I'm keeping it in case they ever fix it.
I second this. I used to be MBH, Carbineer 1/4/x/x. With that setup, I could hit crippleshot at the speedcap with a 3.8 laser carbine. I picked up +12 ranged speed as one of my two free unlocks, but I had to drop the speed box of carbineer to do so. I now CANNOT hit crippleshot at the speed cap. So +5 carbine speed > +12 ranged speed?
The only other explanation is that the FS abilities add to speed differently. I didn't think about testing without the +5 carbine speed before I picked up the +12 ranged speed line.
Back to the subject, I like my template:
MBH
Carbineer: 0/4/2/2
Pistoleer: 0/0/4/0
Novice Brawler
Combat Prowress: 0/4/0/0
And 4 extra points ... havent decided on which FS line(s) to use those 4 points on yet....

Does anyone know if Jedi heal their mind separately from their helth/action?
BH and carbineer both have specials that damage multiple pools at once. I'm assuming that will take a jedi two separate healing actions to heal health and mind pools? If that's the case...multiple pool hits ought to be great because it will drain twice the force power? Am I right here?

The heals they do are minor and major in size but they equally heal all three stat pools. The higher they go the more effective their heals become. Eventually they get to be like well made stimC's or even D's. However, the max amount they can heal for is about the same. Healing doesn't eat up much of their forcepool either.
ok, its 10am and I need to get some sleep.....(graveyards are evil)

I'm in a dilemma. I am a Master Bounty Hunter with Pistoleer 4 0 0 4 but I like the damage output of my carbine over that of my pistols. (I'd say that my carbine does twice the damage of my pistol once specials are factored in.) I do however love using my pistols with eyeshot at the speed cap. Problem is pistol damage is just not that good.
I typically enter combat with my carbine armed so that I can lay a KD/dizzy (Bounty Hunter carbine specials), then switch to my pistol for a fire DoT (Torso shot). Due to the weapon switch delay, I usually stay with the pistol after that. I sure would like to stick with a single weapon and not have to worry about switching back and fourth from pistol to carbine.
I read on the Bounty Hunter forum a debate on which is better.... Master Bounty Hunter/Master Pistoleer or Master Bounty Hunter /Master Carbineer. I also don't know how important it is to master either. There might even be a combination of Master Bounty Hunter / some pistols + some carbines. It looks like it comes down to this.....Pistoleer has better defense than Carbineer, but Carbineer has higher damage output than Pistoleer especially when you factor in medium armor piercing of the laser carbine vs. light AP of all pistols (well...AP 0 on some).
So now you can see my dilemma. My question is with a carbine speed of +80 and accuracy of +120 (Bounty Hunter with no Carbineer) how much help would it be to add Carbineer stats.... either some or Master? Are there Carbineer specials that are better than the Bounty Hunter Carbine specials? At the same time I have pistol speed of +80 and accuracy of +120 before I add Pistoleer skills. Pistoleer adds to Bounty Hunter some melee defense, some state defense, a few specials that I don’t use, and the Geo pistol certification, which is great for PvP, but useless against Jedi. (Damage type makes no difference against armor less Jedi.) I’m speed capped with pistols even without Pistoleer skills.
I'm hoping there's some players out there with both Bounty Hunter /Carbineer and Bounty Hunter /Pistoleer experience that can help with this.
Thanks in advance.
I have been Master Bounty Hunter /Master Carbineer for a bit. I have been a Master Pistoleer. But I have not done Master Pistoleer/Master Bounty Hunter. I always considered myself more a Carbineer first and Bounty Hunter second so with that in mind take my input for what you will.
I LOVE being a speedcapped Carbineer. I buy my weapons in crates and have a slicer slice till they hit a Max Damage. hands down cheaper then trying to get sliced, krayt, loot wepons and you end up with multiples of the same weapon. Good to have ready backups.
It is an excellent PVE template, one I have really enjoyed for a long time. I can take out squads of Stormtroops using shots from Carbineer full auto area2 and crippleshot 2 followed by burst shot. It is fun.
Most Bh specials I use are for single targets.
With that being said Carbineers/Bounty Hunters or Pistoleers are about the worst templates in PVP right now. I am not saying you can't put up a good fight, BUT that Rifleman/TKA will always get you in the end. For hunting Jedi.... it's worse. The sad truth is ALL ranged weapons do VERY poorly against mid to high level Jedi Player Characters.I do AGREE I think BH will get some real nice fixes in the combat rebalance. If your patient it may be worth hanging on to the skills till then, Investigation XP is a nightmare and I never want to do that again.![]()
There are better templates for PVP that include Carbineer but not Bounty Hunter. TAFirehawk has a couple of great suggestions on those. As for hunting Jedi sadly it seems that melee stacking is the way to go on that.
My time with pistols was short. though at the moment I still have my BH Pistol specials I really don't use. I don't really use my pistols period unless im out helpping a noobie type that needs the xp. ThenI lay off carbines.
Well, that's my ramblings on the subject.....
