Would like to wear the factional armor. But im twi so I guess that is out of the question. The last time I checked marauder armor was a quest item. I would know I have a set. No helmet included in that set. Guess I'm screwed all around. Only helmets available to twi carbineers are bone, padded, and RIS. I can pick up an RIS helemet which would probably look great with my ST armor. But Im not spending months of time looking for groups(post CU) to kill the stuff needed to make RIS nor am I spending 3 million credits on something that will decay by weeks end (post cu) anyways. And ill be darned if I am caught dead with a padded helemt.
All In all I think the certs, as they stand, could use a little work.

perhaps not the right place, perhaps the right place but my question was overread in the items and loot category. since a correspondent posted in that thread he could perhaps forward that question to a dev and tell us, it is really important for many of us screwed aliens who took alien races because they just wanted to be alien and not to be uber and now are really screwed...
whats the situation on helmets for alien races ? do they really want to keep the joke with the currect system that alien races are not allowed to use certain helmets ? no storm trooper helmets... no ris helmets... no mado helmets... but press a fish into a compo helmet...
any news on that ? i mean... its a GAME and alien races DONT have special alien only armor...

I'm quite happy we got battle armor since it doesn't have any weaknesses but also no special strengths. I think i'll mostly wear the rebel armor or RIS.

Any player should be able to wear any armor they want. These current devs are fascinated by doing everything in "levels". Bunch f BS if you ask me.
Yeah, utter BS.
They make all armor viable, then they restrict it afterwards.
I want what they are smoking, would be nice for weekends!

Maybe we should ask what YOU are smoking.....if all armor wasn't viable then how could the restrict/cert it?
I feel you have the situation backwards.....the idea was to have some more prof defining elements and thus more equality of armor was necessary.

Anyone should be able to wear any kind of armor. You should just get additional penalties to attack, defense, movement, etc if you are not trained in the use of that particular armor.
I'd even go so far as to allow rebels to wear imperial armor and vice versa. On top of the aforementioned penalties, you would also have an increased chance of being scanned by the opposing faction. It would carry the same repercussions as if the character had illegally sliced equipment or spice.
If you want to look cool in composite but don't have the certs, so what? Who cares? You won't be very effective in that armor, but that's your choice.
Just remember; it's better to look good than to feel good.

It was originally planned that way.....only time we were informed of the change was when it hit TC....and I agree with you in the respect that non-combat folks need some armor too.
