Im weaponsmith on bloodfin and wanted a little feedback about the best carbs for pvp. Its obviously a switch between the elite and drx6 but until recently, all my carbs were made with stocks. This made the max damage much higher but the final weapon was also a lot slower. Ive made 2 examples of new carbs, no stocks and standard barrels for more speed. Would these be any good?
pvp Elite carb
pvp DRX6 carb

Those are fairly standard looking weapons and would be something similar to what most carbineers use in pvp.

So....is that a 'yea, the trade off in damage for speed is prefered for pvp as carbineers got jacked when it comes to speed' or 'na, go back to the drawning boards'??

I'd say it depends. For pure carbineers, those look like decent stats. However, there are also a large number, like myself, who are BH/Carbineer dabblers. For me, anything faster than 4.0 speed is a waste, since that's the gun speed at which all my specials cap. What I would suggest for you to do if you were real serious about making better guns is to go to a character builder and the SWG Damage Calculator (I can post links if you don't have 'em). Figure out at exactly which speed all the specials cap for pure master carbineers, pure master BHs (note that they won't have access to the Elite), and then BH/Carbineer dabblers. Build two or three different models of guns to fill different speed caps, with the firing speed at exactly the right speed necessary and the rest of your effort spent increasing damage and condition and decreasing HAM cost (increasing damage most important, then decreasing HAM cost).

Carbineers need +25 to cap on speed. They only get +60 at master. This is why i thought about making faster carbs.

I'd suggest making both with and without stocks. There are quite a few BH/Carbineers who can use the stocks and then the non-BHs who would like the ones you listed.

The elite would do nicely with a good speed slice. The DXR6 is a little slow.
Hey what can you say though. Carbine's got the shaft when it came to speed. Sad when you have to master two other professions to get into a third to cap on speed.

I'm doing a line of carbines tailored to PvPers with BH mods.

Notice the really really high HAMs, but also notice the accuracy. Its made for when your totally buffed and hitting the speed cap. Great for punching through stackers.

If you want to go with the stocks, your best bet for a decent Master Carbineer weapon is a 12 experimentation point Master Weaponsmith with an Imperial Stock and killer materials.
Otherwise leave the speed killing add on's for the BH's.

Drx6 > Elite Carbine because of those bloody Imp psg's that EVERYONE uses. I dont even use my Elite anymore becuase if I had to use an energy attack (most likely for pve hunting) it would be my laser Carb with its medium AP. Im not a AS by any means, but everyone who makes pvp psg's always has acid as one of its vulnerabilities. So Drx6 is my choice when beating down Imperials in pvp, and laser carb for pve. Most will probly flame me to death, but the otherCarbs are plain useless. The only EE3's Iown have poison attacks.Heatat AP0 sucks 90% of the time in pve, and well just a no no in pvp hehe.

NO matter what people think or say or try to prove... the most important thing to have on your carbine is Ideal range mod...
- Once you stick some state on your enemie, he will fall
no matter what weapon or what armor he has. ((exceptions exist))
Anything that has range mods under +20 are not really effective in pvp. We have been testing it over and over... RANGE MOD is the key to pvp.

Very interesting and I don't think this has been brought up in much detail. I do believe there was a minor discussion about Accuracy affecting States a few weeks ago.
I now have witnessed this too, mostly in PvE, but applying States is so much faster now with my +70 Ideal Range weapons ![]()
In fact this might be a key point to add to the FAQ.....
