Damage Mitigation is coming in the next publish (very likely this week).

I highly recommend you read href=http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pistoleer&message.id=29071 target=_blank>this post from Philosopher. It describes the system and talks about many of its implications. I also recommend you read href=http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pistoleer&message.id=29202 target=_blank>this post in which Philosopher addresses specific question about damage mitigation after consulting the Developers.

This change does greatly effect Carbineers in PvP for the worse I believe. Our best carbine hands-down is the laser carbine. Since it has a wide damage range, it gets hit hard by this change. If PvP is your thing, start looking to replace your PvP gun with a nice DXR6 or Elite Carbine. With regards to PvE, this change has no effect...now. The Developers have indicated that creatures or NPCs could get damage mitigation in the future. An official response to SOJ's Top 5 Issues is in the works. One of the issues he presented was the sad state of our carbines. There will be news on this issue in the update.

If you have not, head over and read Thunderheart'sSWG: The Art of Combat post.

No it was not pulled. The HAM system was pulled. Thunderheart's was confused what was pulled when he posted about mitigation not going in. This cause quite a bit of confusion...

Damage mitigation is going IN.

The new HAM system is NOT. It will return sooner rather than later...

Thanks Nova! Your post wraped it all up in a neat little package for me! Great job!

As a master carbineer/CH i feel good about the migitation.. as i feel as though this patch is dirrected at me lol.. i have to say.. i am far from over powered and after this patch i will be farther still. I like CH cause i am attached to my creatures NOT because its an advantage to have a tank.. i rely on carbine abilities far more then my pets tanking abilities, more so after the patch.

Been there... Done that..

looks like DXR6s aren't coming out too bad from this

good thing that's my current weapon of choice...

So, this is going to drop our max damage a lot then... does it effect NPCs, too?

Personally I use a Krayt DH17 Short Carbine for PvP.....at 2.0 speed with min/max at 98/331 with HAM 28/29/16

After reading the post it seems that it would be better NOT to Master a proffession:

AKA: DMG 100 - 200 ( range 100)

Level 1 mitigation 100 x 20% = 20; 200 -20 = 180

Level 3 mitigation 100 x 60% = 60; 200 - 60 = 140

At Level 1 your NEW damage is 100 - 180;

At level 3 (Master) your new damage is 100 - 140;

Does this seem right? Masters are being punished

It seems to me that weapon speed has also become much more important than damage specs on a weapon; this is already a problem for our class having low speed bonuses/weapons, I hope that the speed issue with be addressed in the weapon or combat balancing stage but it looks like a rough couple of months ahead.

Great post Nova; I had been having a hard time finding any info on these changes

You have that backwards....

It effects the damage done to YOU. So if you are a Master Carbineer and you are hit for 100-200, the damage is mitigated down to 100-140 *IF* the attack was ranged.
