I would like to hear from Carbineers about fighting unbuffed. What specific food do you use? What tanks do you use if any? What weapons are used, and what you say to Weaponsmiths to try to get low ham weapons? I have read the FAQ just wanted to hear stories and tips from people who are experienced with this type of combat and what they learned the hard way. Thanks for any help.
There is another good thread here, but just wanted the Carbine perspective.

Well for me it is only enjoyable with pets or friends.....being a MCH helps
Oh and I have 4340 Medic to heal every 4-5 shots with my Laser.....but I can go alot longer with food/drink buffs and a low HAM E11 or DH17. And Food/Drink are buffs too

Make sure you dizzy KD your opponent. This way you can just stand back let your HAM regen and auto fire. And if he stands up and starts coming at you kd him again and dizzy then like use crippling shot. That's what i always did with my BH marks

Well im a Master Carbineer with BH carbs IV and Combat Prowess.. and ehanced reflexes(Melee+Ranged Defense) with novice Medic...
I found that you dont really need anything special in fighting unbuffed...
I can kill a Mercenary Destroyer or a Droideka simply By running around and NOT standing still.
They Just CANT hit you as often as you can them.Maybe a Heal or 2 would help and some Vagnerian Canape+Vasarian Brandy for mind,But thatd be it...

It also depends on: are you fighting multiple targets or a single target?
I do a lot of faction missions unbuffed, when one target is chasing me, and the other is going prone, I switch to the prone target and get in best distance, while I try to outrun the other target. Beeing a Squadleader helps so I ususlly lose him runnning up hill.
Check the vulnerabilities of your target, it might help switch to a different damage type weapon.
TAfirehawk once mentioned he tends to use Wildshot to stick a stun on a target since he had the feeling that other stats stick easier after the target is stunned (chargeshot , fullautosingle, actionshot). This depends on if you can handle the HAM cost of those specials.
Since I need to heal myself I tend to be (drunk) most of the time when Im unbuffed ( means I drink a lot of brandy ).
Aharsi (might be spelled wrong) I tend to eat too since it lasts long. If I know in advance I ll gonne get in trouble I have some canape ready.
My IC character doesn't like drugs so I try to keep him away from that, IC Im close to an alcoholic using so much brandy, I have some blue milk but .... milk is for boyz, brandy for squadleader so there is no sight of getting him of alcohol so far =).

Doubt that was me suggesting WS be used.....but on high end PvE it can be helpful to get Stun landed first if landing States is difficult....use LegShot3 or ActionShot1/2 though

MCH is a wonderful profession
I have pets for critters (high knet res) and pets for faction missions (high enegery res.) I also have novice medic incase I get too happy with specials and keep a generous supply of ranged weapon attachments handy, mostly max damage lower mind cost.
As far as armor goes I wear a black/white comp body plate(provides some protection without out killing my secondaires)utill such time as I have enough faction points for faction armor
I also keep some versian(sp?) brandy handy for time when the healing gets out of hand

Well for starters you might want to use the E-11, DH-17 snub, and DXR6. Though the DXR6 is going to be a little heavy on ham. Avoid stocks and scopes. And max out your secondary stats. And if you must wear armor watch the encumb. Even with the "mini" suits.
If you use those weapons full auto single 2 will give you the highest DPS (yes higher than crippleshot or scattershot due to time delay)and causes the target to blind, stun, and dizzy. All of which come in handy. If you keep AS below 2.5 you will cap or come close to it with that attack. And it drains health and action about evenly and goes easy on the mind pool. That is of course if you are just a master carbineer. If you have BH carbs then still stick with FAS2 as it drains the ham a little slower than most other shots.
There are exceptions. The EE-3 will obliterate your health bar regardless of special. That in turn causes you to stim more and drain your mind pool faster. And the laser carbine is suicide if used for an extended period of time. Scattershot2 hits you a little harder than FAS2 but is still a usefull shot. Leg shot is quick at master but does too little damage to the target when compaired to the damage it does to you. The slugthrower is nice but hits you harder than a well crafted DXR6.
These are just some observations from what the weapon did to my twi'lek (read weak) avatar.

Loot EE3/E11/Laser with a mind cost of less than 10 if possible.
Novice medic, B stims.
1 brandy 1 accagram (or however that action drink similar to brandy is spelled)
try to KD/dizzy your target, stun it first tho
when on the ground shot some crippling shots until dead.
(in fact I have noticed that crippling shot is one of our best attacks when unbuffed, it drains less than FAS2 for example)

If you are not a MCH you can always pick up a battle droid. I did most of my investigation exp. unbuffed. I would frequently use an EE3, Laser, or my favorite DH-17 (extremely low HAM). Pick up some swirl food if you can order it from a chef. Unenhanced is fine but enhanced really helps. You can also fit in some vercupii which helps alot but once again cuts into your pocketbook. ALWAYS have some spice on your toolbar. You can use them as emergency heals (muon for mind) or just a bit of a boost. Exo-protein wafers are usually very cheap, very low filling, and shave off a small amount of the damage (15-20% isn't that much but at 6k per unenhanced crate why not). Synthsteak is better but more expensive. Non-advanced stimB's work just fine while you're unbuffed and are a ton cheaper than their advanced cousins. Many doctors will provide you schematics free of charge if you ask them to make you a few providing that you bring you own sub-components. Having on a +injury/wound treatment article of clothing will help alot as well by maximizing the heals.
Standard attack: send in droid, apply states, land KD, your choice of legshot or crit shot from there. I wouldn't recommend more than one npc at a time. Also be sure and do an "examine" on them to find out which damage weapon would be better to use.
My little battledroid "steelpot" usually kept all attacks on him and I rarely was engaged by the npc. Afterwards a few uses from a repair kit and then rinse and repeat.
Hope this helps

Using the 4-piece suits and 80% kinetic 66% base armor you can slice it down to less than 200 to each pool. Medic is a must.
Short Term Foods (Less than 8 Minute Fights)
Breath of Heaven (+1000 to drain pools for 8 mins, 50 fil)
Neutron Pixie
Mando Wine (+1000 to regens, 50 fil, like 8 mins, RARE)
Vercupti (+1000 hams, 50 fil)
50 food filling to play with (I take thak)
Long Term
Accorthim (Like brandy for action)
Gammorl Roll (ahrisa for action)
Exo-Protien Wafers (damage redux, low fil)

Vasarian Brandy and Accaragm are great drinks when you have to use a carbine unbuffed. The extra kick to the action secondaries helps a lot on the HAM costs, and the Brandy helps ease the mind when you have to heal. But if you're using an EE3, most of your cost is going to come from health rather than action.
Still, with my PvP laser carbine, I'm lucky to be able to get off 4-5 sprayshots before having to heal (much less without the accaragm). Dh17s tend to have decent HAM costs and can be made with fairly nice stats.
