Thread: We've really got nothing to talk about...

Hello carbineers,

It seems to me that we really have nothing much to talk about anymore. We can't talk about creative uses of our attacks because we've done that already. We can't define problems anymore with our profession because we've been doing that for months with basically no change. There's just basically not much left to be discussed in the carbineer forums anymore. We seem to have asked all the questions we can and have all the answers it seems we're going to get. So now what?

Oh, welcome aboard Novamarine. It is my sincere hope that you'll not burn out reading the same things over and over in these forums and getting the same developer neglect that I'm sure you're already quite familiar with. Isn't it rather remarkable how high the turnover rate for correspondants seems to be throughout the forums? I admire that you try and volunteer time and effort to improve things, but it really does seem like the game developers are rather unconcerned with fixing glaring problems with professions that have been known about for months and months.

So, now that we seem to be at a standstill on our forums... does anyone have something interesting they want to post for us all to read? We can turn this thread into something to look forward to reading every day since discussing carbineers seems so fruitless and repetitive these days. What do you all think? Hehehe Any good jokes or anything?

Here... to try and keep this thread from getting locked, let's see if anyone has any information people might want to read that is vaguely related to carbines at least but isn't something that has been posted about elsewhere.

Any roleplaying threads from your servers that deal with a carbineer? Any funy carbineer comics out there besides the one we probably all know about? Any interesting tidbits about carbines from the movies or expanded universe? Anything... anything at all?

Found some pictures of some different looking carbines... maybe the devs will notice some of these designs and add them in or something? Give us something to talk about! Come on guys... help me out here!

Well, we will never have to worry about anyone locking this thread. We know that DEVs do not read anything from the Carbineer Board. Aside from that note, I too have nothing left to talk about.

I know, isn't sort of sad?

I must confess to having loads of fun using area attacks on stormies and knocking down AT-STs at two faction bases last night though. I think from now on we should seriously try to add one random thing to at least bother to read to this thread every day. Hahahah Otherwise I'm afraid all of us carbineers will stop visiting these lonely (and quite boring) forums.

Should

Wow... not sure how the hell that happened.

Anyway, what I was finishing saying was:

Should I post a roleplaying thread from our server just to have something to read? Does it make it carbineer related since I'm a carbineer in the story (though it never says that)?

Hahaha

This is the best post I've seen in here in a long time.

It always amazes me when someone posts a new thread here because if they look past page 1, there will be countless threads with almost the exact same title.

Now I'm not knocking on people for posting something that's already been posted about...not at all. My point is that our issues are have been the same for so many months that it makes it easy to find a post about any problem that you are having.

I feel it's going to be this way for at least another 4 months. I say this because why would they start tweaking the weapons when they have the combat system change in the works. You just know they will want to get that up and running before they touch the combat professions.

Our day will come!!

It's still kinda fun watching the light go out of new carbineers' eyes as they realize what they've signed on for. If you time it just right you can almost see the exact moment when their hearts break...

It really is the case that this particular forum is HORRIBLY repetitive. "How can I master carbine the fastest." "Such and such special is broken." "Is crippleshot or burstshot better?" "What is with chargeshot1?"....

I wrote a huge roleplaying post for the Naritus expanding on some events that happened on our server so I'll post that in here since it is VAGUELY related to carbineer and because it was a bad day to post the conlusion of the story over there since so much is going on in the GCW in our particular galaxy. Hehehe If you don't like roleplaying posts or are expecting this to be all about carbines... it isn't for you. Next thread will be the intro.

This post is meant to break the monotony of the carbineer forums, hope you enjoy - Rroark, your carbineer wookiee buddy.

The Begininng...

The day began as any other day in the galaxy. Intelligence information streamed into our city from informants around the galaxy until a rather strange message appeared on my datapad.

“Watchmen, we will negotiate with you for deactivation of your explosives and the return of our command control key. Coordinates enclosed. –Khade”

Simple and to the point... the Imperial Guard was finally willing to negotiate despite their nonstop broadcasts depicting a handful of the explosives our agent, Cagno, had placed throughout one of their bases after gaining control of their command control key. His subterfuge was absolute. Screens across the galaxy were broadcasting Imperial propaganda and shouting against the “cowardly rebels” who would dare threaten the “sovereignty” of the Empire. The Imperial Guard was trying to keep quiet about their massive security breach and we had them exactly where we wanted them… guessing about what our next move would be.

I punched in a new set of coordinates into my datapad and sent them back to Imperial Guard command through encrypted channels. We would meet on our turf, not theirs. I chose the lovely city of Nashal so that if conflict did break out, it could be contained and we could slip off into the wilds we know so well if things got out of hand. The Imperials would not be able to mobilize the nearby Imperial Outpost without us knowing about it well in advance.

I then sent word out to our forces that we would be meeting with the Imperials in Nashal and that they would need to take up strategic positions. Dogg and Gryumpa punched locations into their datapads defining where our soldiers would be located. I decided I wanted to attend this meeting personally… confident that they would not risk a base and all its defenses during this critical time in the civil war. Our demand of one million credits in reparation to the people of Anchorhead was small change for the Imperial Guard and surely not worth the embarrassment of losing one of their fortifications.

Within the hour our forces were in place scouting the area for signs of trouble. Lonenn walked into my chambers with word from the Imperial Guard. “They’ve agreed and will be in Nashal in 4 hours.”

“Excellent. Let’s get ourselves ready, Lonenn.”

Without a further word Lonenn and I outfitted and left for Nashal. The waiting game began. Hours passed and finally an unfamiliar face was spotted walking toward the cantina. Her hair was raven black and her eyes darted to take in the surroundings. She was purely beautifully by all standards. As she entered the cantina I readied my weapon. She made her way quickly toward me.

“Rroark, yes?” she asked.

“Yes. And you?”

“Drianna.”

“Very well, let us begin,” I replied.

“We already have,” she spit back as she produced a weapon from her sleeve.

“Rroark, droid!” somebody yelled into the comm. as chaos erupted.

With terrifying speed she whipped a blade down across my weapon, destroying it. I could hear blaster fire erupting just outside as her blade sliced upward toward my face. I jumped back out of the way as the ground began to rumble.

“Landing pods!” Kymeria screamed from the doorway as she took aim at the assassin. The wall behind me exploded unexpectedly and my vision blurred. My back was riddled with debris. I watched helplessly as Drianna raised her weapon for the deathblow and just as helplessly as Kymeria’s shot ripped Drianna’s raised arm off at the elbow.

Drianna spun around and without missing a beat as she drew a blaster with her left hand. Two charges sank into Kymeria and knocked her outside the door before Lonenn’s lightning canon charred Drianna’s face and revealed her metallic skull. I faintly heard something moving in behind me through the blasted wall and gave it my best effort to roll and confront the new opponent. To my surprise and horror, it was the legendary IG-88 assassin droid. I figured my time had finally come as his claw-like arm leveled some strange weapon at me. Once again I was made aware of my good fortune as I watched Dogg’s melee skills in action. A baton went around IG-88’s head and the droid was muscled back out of the room with a wild shot searing the ceiling. I could hear more blaster fire outside as I tried to stand back up but fell to my knee. Through the hole in the wall IG-88 had made, I could see numerous stormtroopers emerging from landing pods and rifle fire raining down from the rooftops onto them. I staggered forward toward the rubble and tried to regain my senses.

Behind me, Lonenn fired an additional blast into the chest of Drianna’s corpse to seal the deal. I felt blood dripping from my fur… my own blood. Could the Imperial Guard really be so bold?

I stumbled again to my knees and unslung my backpack to draw a fresh weapon, but before I could shake my dizziness, Nid and Apache-Agent had made short work of the stormtroopers emerging from the landing pods. I watched as Kyp fired a rocket into one of the pods, causing an enormous fireball to billow up into the sky. The battle was won as the handful of remaining troopers raised their arms in surrender.

Just as fast as it all started, it seemed to be over. Dogg came running up to me to present an assessment of the situation. His cheek was badly torn open and gushing blood.

“Fearless leader, the battle is won, but IG-88 has fled. The Empire must be made to pay for this... severely. I recommend we leave immediately for Lok and detonate the explosives.”

It was all I could do to mutter a reply. “Very well…”

“Lliam, tend to Rroark,” Dogg shouted. “Make ready for Lok!”

I was ushered into a transport and we lurched off toward Lok. Weapons were cleaned and prepared and Cagno’s eyes gleamed as he held the detonator in his palm.

“This is going to be a day I remember,” Cagno laughed.

“This will be a day the Empire will remember, Cagno,” I replied.

“We’ll touch down as close to the volcano as possible and use the plumes to obscure our entry” Cro’de announced as he steered us toward our destination. “We should be in range for the detonator if we can get within 4000 meters of Haven.”

Our transport slipped into the toxic plumes and we descended to the planet’s surface. I remained aboard the ship receiving additional medical attention from Lliam as a squad set out with the detonator and command control key to lower base defenses.

About fifteen minutes out, the comms in the transport came to life. “Sir, at least two squads of Imperial Guardsmen incoming!”

“What?” I replied in shock. “How? Is it a random patrol?”

“No, sir. They know we’re here. Taking fire. Five, no… six AT-STs.”

“Take off now! Get over to them and do an aerial recovery. Do not set down!” I growled.

“I won’t be able to surface scan while until we’re out of the plume again,” Pilot Cro’de replied.

“Go!” This day had went from bad to worse. The ship lunged upward into the sky and toward the toxic fumes of the volcano.

Dogg’s voice crackled due to the volcano’s interference, “Sir, Al’x Wren is commanding the Imps. This could get ugly. We’re heavily outnumbered.”

“We’re on our way, ETA 2 minutes,” I replied.

“Roger.” Silence… the longest minute ever before Dogg’s voice resumed, “Sir, we’ve taken position in a crater…”

SLAM

Our ship jolted downward and sparks shot through the cockpit. “What was that?! Shields up!” I barked.

“I’m picking up another ship below us… we hit them! It’s IG-88’s ship!” Cro’de exclaimed.

“Damage?”

“Severe! We’ve lost lateral thrusters, top quad, rear stabilizers and air containment in the top.”

“Sir, ETA?” Dogg’s voice chimed in.

“Dogg, we’re going down. You’re going to have to handle the situation on your own.”

“Yes, sir.” I figured those would be the last words I heard from my loyal comrade....

Hehehe Don't you know that droids are too nerfed to carry out such a task! Pfft! Hahaha

But seriously... I'll post a chunk of this story for the next few days to give us something different to read on these horrendously boring forums.
