Thread: Template help!!
Basically I'm having problems with my template here, wasn't sure which forum to post in because of my massive dabbling in other proffessions. If anyone out there can help me with the template and make me a better one send me a /tell or email ingame to "Niveus", I'll pay you 25k on STARSIDER if I like the template.
Whats essential in the template:
FCone1 & FSingle1 (at least so I can apply both burn DoT's)
HealthShot1 & Healthshot2 (so i can apply more health DoT's)
BH Pistols2 (eye shot, so i can help fellow riflemen tap at a targets mind)
Novice Medic (at least, so i can stim myself in a hairy situation)
The template I came up with using these "essentials" is as follows:

This is a basic outline of what I have personally come up with, but thinking it could be adjusted a bit better. So as I said, come up with something better and send me a tell and I'll tip you 25,000 ingame on STARSIDER for your help.

My immediate concern is the lack of defence. There's plenty of +XX defence vs XXXX from pistol techniques but it would be easy to land shots on you and with the lack of damage mitigation you are going to get hit hard.
I'm not saying mine is the best template but I have:
Master Commando
TK 4004
Scout 1000 (I spend half my life running after sh*t, I'd hate it if I couldn't run up hills)
Smuggler 0100 (having two base takedown skills is a luxury I can afford hunting in packs)
Novice Medic (stim B's, my best friend).
I end up on +90-odd ranged and melee defense.
Gave me a idea for this template >
Commando 3040
Tka 0004
BH PistolSpec2
gives me 60ish ranged and melee defense.
Only problem is I don't have enough SP for medic.. Unless I drop Field Tactics from Commando making it 0040 and drop 2 bars from TKA making it 0002

What are you going up against? Are you soloing or do you have a support squad?
One of my pet hates is people without medic skill. They can't heal themselves or their fellow players.
and this template is what makes the game fun for me

Ok, Here is what you need to do. Drop the BH req. Do rifleman instead, it will work alot better. I propose the following template, which is similar to mine:
Commando 0/0/4/0
Novice Medic
Master rifleman
Pistoleer 0/3/4/4
This would give you 84 melee defense and 87 ranged defense, which would help you out alot. It would allow you to hit mind well, with Master Rifleman. You could heal, with novice Medic. You would have fan shot, several pistol mods, and bleeds.

Call me stupid, but, I find rifleman to be very boring. -_- (I had a serious addiction problem though with the Dxr-6b.. I had 8 or 9 as soon as I got CS2 lol)
Picked it up, went to 4044, then dropped it. Nice damage, yeah, but I don't find sitting back at 56 or so meters watching the fight go on spamming MS and HS over and over :/
Plus I feel the need to run from everything going solo with rifleman..
I want my toon to be the fight, I want to be tanking the damage, I want to be dishing out the damage. While you rifleman sit back and watch me have all the fun

Basically what I'm saying is I dislike ranged fighting, I prefer close quarters/melee fighting over ranged anyday. So my template needs to be 2 parts Melee 1 part ranged *that one part ranged in my template has to be dealing with pistoleer- it helps with using the LP*
Speaking of Launcher Pistols.. I have 2
2.4Spd
80min (there about)
428max
and I think 20% or so wound.
this is with 32% damage slice and 33max pwrup

The only thing I would add to the already good replies is that at Flame2you won't be very good...it may not be worth it because you'll miss more then you hit and the delay will make you VERY inaccuracte with the FT...you'll probably find yourself barely using the FT for that very reason and it would be a waste of skill points...
I always tell people that if they are going to dabble Commando dabble up to Flame 4 to get the accuracy...
Otherwise it's a good support template...but if you plan on going solo at any point, you are going to need more defenses and accuracy to compete....If you plan on focusing on the Pistol more the then FT, Drop Commando and pick up more pistoleer...if you really want to use the FT well, drop down to Novice Pistoleer and go up to Flame 4...you'd be surprised just how noticable the diffence is from flame 2 to flame 4 when it comes to hitting your target...

It is a essential tool when it comes to figuring out your template...I use my copy pretty much daily in figuring out different ways to go...

Heh I use my little personal Casio Calculator next to my computer to figure out that stuff...
Over 500 Items made and produced using that calculator (without counting Furniture) on Valcyn...little bugger hasn't let me down yet
I use the following template,
Master Commando
TKM
Novice Medic + 1 skill of your choice in medic (you can switch that out for scout if you want to harvest)
+94 melee defence (no rings or clothing)
+96 ranged defence(no rings or clothing)
melee&ranged damage mitigation 3
I'm Mon Cal with 1300 mind so i can tk buff for 650, with that and a 2500 doc buff I can get 4k health and action.
I own pvm, theres very few things i cant kill, including Krayts.
get a good 3.4(sliced) flamer, a launcher pistol and play connect the DOT's then switch to TK and add some state effects, tank while the states run amuck, game over
only problem I have is pvp(I suck at it is probly why)
