Thread: How carbineer is to other people.

I logged in my Master Carb today, buffed up and grabbed some gear, turned off my commando title and flipped on the carbineer on a whim, and went out to have some fun.

I went through Coronet, and heard this.

"ROFL!!!! LOOK A MASTER CARBINEER!!! I thought they were dead!"

I so love being a joke profession.

*Looks at the horizion*

Resist, young fellow... Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrw... But one day Carbineers will be a normal profession. And that day, i'll be there.

On FarStar: MYLO EXAGONALIS ---> Mon Calamari Pikeman / Doctor.

On Chimaera: JANTO KORMAKIS ---> Human Commando / Rifleman / Squad Leader

Heh.

The only way to get around that is to forge a name for yourself in PvP as a Carbineer. There are numerous guides in the FAQ and on this forum in general which outline the best Carbineer combinations that are PvP-suitable. Throw in a few months of experience and practice and eventually.. people will be picking up the profession because of you!

In general terms I do agree though that our profession is often the subject of much jeering and ridicule, heh. But I like it that way, to be honest. Surprise is one of the biggest elements in PvP, and much of that comes from being able to make certain underdog professions like ours work well.

I have a lot of people admire dedication, i also have a lot of people surprised by how well it can perform with good equipment and a decent knowledge of the proffession. I think proffession like carbineer and pikeman kind of get a reputation of being the redheaded stepchildren of SWG, so i wouldn't let it keep you down, as always do what is fun for you, if you aren't have a good time you are wasting your $15/month

LOL I was about to point it out but refrained, heh. Pikeman is an underdog profession but as soonas you speedcap and get some decent pikes, it easily becomes the best profession out there.. which is why I have no pity nor sympathy for them. All PvPing Pikemen on my server simply purchase the newest strongest fires and cycle from F1 to F12 and then from Shift+F1 to Shift+F12, leaving a few area-attacks in between.

There's little skill in playing a PvP-pikeman, sadly. DoT-whore indeed!

I'm not suggesting all pikemen are DoTters, but.. that's essentially what the profession is about. Oh, and area dizzies and posture changes that are simply way too overpowered.

Have you ever played Pikeman before? From your post it sounds like no. As a Pikeman I hate DOT's and it's sad that pikes have become the dot craze that it is. As far as real pike fighters without dot's, you won't find many and if they are then it takes a heck of a lot of work to win a duel. I couldn't help but laugh at your comment that our area dizzies and posture changes are overpowered. By you saying that there is no skill in Pikeman proves that either you have been beat by a few pikers or if you did the profession then you just sucked at it. Your comment about our rep was uncalled for as well.

I find it entertaining to point and laugh at Sullustans and master rangers, there are several people running around with master carbineer titles on my server though and the only time anyone has said anything to me was when there are two of us in the same place at the same time.
