Thread: What to pair with Carbineer?
I have never used a Carbine without being buffed, so I don't know what the HAM usage is like.
I am unsure what to drop. I like poisoning and diseasing people, but I also like reviving and buffing people. (Well buffing myself and guildies really.)
I am more PvP orientend, so that may have an effect on what I should get.
Any tips from anyone?
keep doctor
carbineers have VERY high ham costs so you will need the buffs
Listen to Alamen ![]()
Keep doctor, you will need the buffs. Slice and Powerup all your guns for speed and try to hit the speed cap with Crippleshot. You wont have to worry about HAM, and you will be killing faster than your poisons would have allowed you too ![]()
If you are group PVPing just get buffs from another person in the group and keep you buffed up. It depends on what is more important to you the conveniance of self buffing or being as effective as posible in PVP and thus keeping your CM tools.
I dissagree with Ciirybeccaskyreven in PvP its more imortant with Doc, certenly
when combat medics is getting more and more popular. Its nothing more fun than
fighting a CM thats spams Poison at you and you just keep on removing them. ![]()
So, Doctor is the classic profession to pair with Carbineer, but to be honest, this is mere a workaround to counter the "bugged" Carbine HAM costs.
You might as well think about investing into the future and keep CM. If you group often and have the chance to aquire buffs elsewhere, I'd keep CM and hope for the HAM fix.

ok youre naive.
now first of all there is about a popsicle chance in hell that carbines will get their HAM lowered because it would take a complete overhaul of the crafting system to do it since HAM is based on resources.
second of all carbineers are still going to benefit from buffs under the new combat system.
third of all, i guarentee you the way HAM cost is done in combat under the new combat system is going to suck almost as much if not as much as any radical changes to it would at the least mean mobs would ALSO have to be overhauled. from what ive been following, HAM regeneration from using specials is going to be bumped up. once this happens mobs are undoubtedly going to get their armor back, have their ham increased blah blah -as usual, SOE could **edit** up a wet dream.
finally, i was a master carbineer for a long time before i became a master doc also: it sucked. the other day i logged on near some tuskens and started shooting at them. i totally forgot that i didnt get a chance to buff and i saw that i was half dead 10 sec into the battle -i hadnt even been hit yet lol. if you are a master doc now, id keep it or you might find yourself grinding med crafting xp again in a month or so ![]()

1. Carbine HAM costs are too high.
The Developers agree they are too high. The next several publishes to Star Wars Galaxies will be focusing on combat. In addition to releasing a new combat system, the HAM costs on carbines will be decreased. The Developers have promised combat is about to become much more fun!
I think they're ontop of the carbine ham costs thing.
Whether or not Master Doc or Master CM would be better is debateable. By that I mean that I've never been in a pvp situation where another master doc would not have been a benefit but I've been in several pvp situations where a master CM would be useless. So I'd say keep doc if you want to help everyone around you stay alive and keep CM if you want to mess with people's minds. Personally I'd go master Doc but I like helping people more than directly fighting.

yes ive read that too and if and when ham costs on carbines are reduced it will probably be an accross the board type thing; that is that ALL ranged weapons will have their hams reduced but even more likely is that carbineers will handle their HAM more efficiently and regen it faster by adjusting the affect secondary stats have on HAM costs.
One thing to consider...
I do not know about your server...but on mine, I can buy doc buffs for 6k for the 6. This begs the question, why spend all those skill points on master doctor when you can buy buffs for 6k?
When you think about it, given the availability of food/drink (breath of heaven and ryshcate), going master doctor simply to buff yourself is not a wise way to spend your points.
I am a Master Carbineer/Master Creature Handler (atleast till the end of the weekend) and I can assure you that after consuming 1 breath of heaven and 1 ryshcate I can fire specials endlessly. I can literally do 1 entire mission lair on 1 dose of those foods and after destroying the lair I might need a heal since the foods have probably worn off while I was destoying the last bit of the lair. But then again, the lair is dead and I can regen while I zoom to the next mission...
It is two different points of view. You can spend skill points on buffs or you can spend credits on buffs. Personal choice in the end...

exactly just pay the 6k or 7k for buffs and keep your CM, and the devs siad they were lowering the HAM cost on carbines to about 1/2 the current HAM cost, i dont know about you guys, but i dont even need to get doctors buffs anymore, my stats are 900,400,400,900,400,400,900,600,600 and i just take a BoH and 2 rhyschates, wow all of a sudden cripple shot cost 7 action and it regenerates instantly, oh and i wear composite chest and composite helmet, with this i heal my self with stim b's and often take a moun gold, Moun gold+BoH+rhyscates+my stats+composite chest+composite helmet keeps you alive and lets you spam specials..cosnider that if u are human.
