It depends on your template, and what your total ranged defense is, but yes, +25 is a big deal. If you want to be able to compete in this day of defense stackers in PvP, you must have good defenses, includingat least +100 to both ranged and melee defenses. Ranged defense caps at +125, so unless you are well over the cap, I would say it is very much worth it.

I dont think going from 0 to 25 isa big deal. Might be more of a deal when going from 100 to 125.

In the future combat revamp, devs have stated that going from 0-25 will have more of an effect than 100-125. That may not be the case now, but its something to think about. I know, I know, what the DEVS say they are gonna do and what happens is totally different a lot of the time, but at least you know what they are currently thinking.

Under the current system, the 25 range defense you have is practically useless if it is all you have. If you have another profession giving you range defense, then the effect will be more worthwhile.
As it has been explained to be ranged defense more or less subtracts from accuracy. So if I have 150 accuracy and I am shooting at you and you have 25 range defense, my accuracy will be like having 125 accuracy. Meaning, you are still going to get hit and get hit very often.
If you have 100 ranged defense and I have 150 accuracy, my accuracy has dropped to only 50. Now you can expect me to miss very often.

Or if you have 215 carbine accuracy with BH mods and add +40 accuracy food for even more... I dont miss stackers very often but they still dodge an annoying amount.

And don't forget the modifier on the Carbine....
Oh and that Food is 45% increase....at least that is how it is listed but who knows how it really works

The Dark Side pulls and pulls...
My guild would kill me if I dropped Doctor.
However, I have a DXR6 with a stock that is damage-sliced I have been dying to use. It is 4.2 reload but 195 min damage...I forget the max. And acid goes right through those pesky PSGs...
That DXR6 is just sitting there in my house taunting me...

Go for it. I was Carbineer/Doc and I was going crazy at the though of dropping doctor. I just gave most of my good doctor resources to guildmates and trained them to buff me. I'll bet your capped on Carbine xp, so the hardest part would be getting the survival xp for master scout. If you don't like BH it'll take you what, a day to grind back up Doctor.

This brings up a good tangent discussion....is the DXR6 Carbine the NEW PvP weapon of choice? I think it is.....all other things being equal of course.

You'll have to explain that one a bit. Its a nice one, but aside from Acid damage, what separates it from the Elite? Acid is still just as hampered by Composite as the Elite, and in terms of speed, the Enhanced E11 pretty much shreds it.
With State effects andthe chore ofsticking thembecoming more crucial to our profession, it still seems too slow to be an effective weapon for a Carbineer without some serious SEAs. (Please note: SEA's aren't that common in the levels needed to max out.)

Quite simply what Nova brought up, Acid is vuln to a Prototype PSG whereas Energy in the E11 and Elite are 40-60% resisted.....
To me that says it all when the DPS on the weapons themselves is less than 5% different....
Most everybody I know is using a PSG for Stun protection so the DXR6 is the NEW PvP weapon of choice IMO.
