Thread: Rancor hunting
Stick with savage quenkers untill 4-4-0-1 at least.
But if you want to try make sure you use your best food, doc buffs, armour and use nyms or a dxr6 carb.
In a small group tho you will be fine if you keep your distance.
Well even at Master I don't mess with Rancors unless I have my 85% Comp Suit on OR my uber kinetic tank pets out.
But even with the proper Melee help, you just don't have enough Carbine Speed to be effective on Rancors.....unless you have uber Carbines ![]()
Depending on your Armor, Weapons, and pets you might be able to do Rancors efficiently but definitely do NOT do Enraged Rancors ![]()
Bah, I was hunting them this Padded and an Energy carbine.
FullAutoArea2 is your friend. Again, just keep moving, do not let them surround you and hit the Burstrun.
Keep it in a fairly tight circle and watch the radar so you don't charge into another aggro pack.
Many thousands of units of fairly decent carnivore meat were gathered from that expedition, along with a baby rancor and a pair of baby gnarled rancors.

The original poster is 0-3-0-0, way off FAA2.

Ok, this is my group load out:
Master Doctor (not sure what his other stats are)
novice medic (healing exp only for him, no real combat skills)
Me
As for armor, i got 80 kin composite chest pad and biceps, and the rest is 74 kin ubese. I got a really good dxr6 carb and a really good laser carbine (i orderd 20 high quality ones of each, got them sliced, and kept the best). Hopefully i won't get eaten alive quite yet. If not, always got the rez option.
Well it is all about XP per hour if you are wishing to maximize leveling......so just watch how much you get and how fast you kill them to see if you should hunt something a bit lower. I think I was 33XX before butting heads with Rancors ![]()

I wouldn't go with Rancors quite yet. As mentioned before your lack of speed and AoE's are gonna make for trouble. That being said, if your not afraid to die, go for it. Baz Nitches would be a safer bet though. Good luck.
Giant Baz Nitches are a GREAT choise. the missions pay out 11k each and you get good XP for the kills

PST.....a DXR6 will get you more DPS if it has similar stats on the Examine window as your Energy Carbine ![]()
Especially on those Mutants.....

Yeah, but the DXR6 I have is a 2.6 speed, damage sliced stock model versus the .9 speed, damage slicedEnhanced E11 I have. I am definitely in the market shopping for a Krayt DXR6, but for now, the E11 just bulldozes rancors through the higher resists. I know the vulnerability issue and keep a stockDXR in the event I run into something with stupidly high Energy resists (which I have on Dathomir and a few other places).
Just to show I've learned a few things in our debates, I've started slinging a Krayt EE3 around as my main gun taking down the Flintstone crew on Dantooine. Now there, a 1.7 speed EE3 actually does outperform the .9 Enhance E11 because of the Heat vulnerability on your average Kunga, Mokk and Janta.
