Weapons

  • Altered weapons certifications to allow certain weapons to be equipped cross profession.
  • Change examine info to show new weapon level certifications

very interesting new system. now most certs are based on your level, while some are based on level and skill, and some are based on level, skill, and race. with the right tweaking this system could work out well. it should make grinding a new profession easier, but still keep the best weapons for masters of their profession only.

OMG forget wish... try nightmare... anyone can use any weapon with the right combat lvl... all certs are based on combat lvl now. so if i'm a lvl 50 fencer i can use any carbine i want. and if i'm a lvl 50 carbineer i can use any lvl 50 weapon it seems. i can't really test this, but when you examine the weapon the cert is based on lvl, and all the certs have been removed from the trees...

...guess i'll be a master carbineer with a flamethrower... i mean why not??

... i guess this has advantages and disadvantages, i'll give it a days testing before i completly judge it

yep i tested it... i can use any weapon within my level... carbines...pistols....rifles....heavy weapons....polearms (don't even have brawler)...

so the key is to get to lvl 54(max cert for all weapons) then just pick up whatever specials have the best effects and most damage. they should just get rid of all the skill trees and forget professions and just mush them all together in one big profession since there is no distinctions between any profession except the name now.

Yep, Protons a 54 now. Id give them time man, we just now got this. They may be adding special attack distinctions and lvlrequirementsas we speak.

That is because we are on TEST CENTER......please check the Dev Tracker and look for Helios. They will be adding Prof/Race requirements as they see fit to restrict the weapons.

Personally I don't care for sharing in the Elite Profs, but spreading around the lower level weapons will make leveling up in Brawler once you are Master Carbineer much easier for instance.

This really solves two issues, #1 sharing of weapons as many were upset about not getting new, shiny toys (greedy little children IMHO and I don't agree as we all lose distinction this way, but not my call) and #2 the problem with leveling lower/basic branches after an Elite level has been achieved.

SO it doesn't matter what elite combat proffesion you pick, you can use other weapons? Carbineers running around with T-21's? I don't get it. unless it means that you can equip it, but not use it well....

*points up one post*

And specifically the Devs have said the Master Box Certs will NOT be shared....no T21, no Proton Carbine....

So you pick up one ranged prof and one ranged prof and you own. Can use every weapon. I recommend TK so you can save money on Armor, and then I recommend Bounty hunterand master marksmanbecause it'll give you the most weapon versatility between ranged weapons. Then just use the flamethrower.

Yeah this system is going to open up a whole can of overpowered. Probably thier best change since passing out mitigation an Buff's. Im really beggining to worry if this thing is going to be balanced by the time it hits Live. My guess would be not at all since we only havelike 3 weeksto the deadline an the basics like Weapon Certs are still flying around. Im kind of annoyed though since I was hopping to be unique with my E5 since not too many would pick SL. But since its not in the Master box a Pikeman could use it now. LOL

"
Weapon certs can now be tied to a combat level + a specific skill box + a specific race

So, all three of these scenarios could happen:

1. Weapon is certed to anyone with a combat level of at least X

2.Weapon is certed to anyone witha combat level of at least X AND have achieved Skill Box N

3. Weapon is certed to anyone with a combat level of at least X AND have achieved Skill Box N AND is of raceK.

Most weapons currently fall into "1", some fall into "2" (mostly iconic and profression defining weapons) and very few(currently only bowcasters)fall into "3"."

This quote is directly from Helios off of the Commando Forums. It looks as though they are rearranging some of the certs and that is why they are all gone right now. Don't panic, it will be worked out.

The curent system is so more balanced and simple. Your "level" is determined by the weapon you have equiped and how profficient you are with it. Now that they inserted this stupid new level sistem they have to resort to things like this. Skills are becoming less important, overall "level" is becoming more important.
