Thread: Elite Carbine: Devs please read this

The Elite Carbine, even with top quality resources is significanlty less than the Laser Carbine.


The Armor Piercing rating of the Laser is Medium, the Elite is Light--this must be adjusted, no way around it.


The Laser has higher Max damage (Comparing best availablequality for both weapons as well as average quality).


The HAM costs favor Laser, but only slightly.


The Elite only beats the Laser in Minimum damage rating.


Please, Dev Team, remember the Elite is the only upgrade we Carbineers get from the Laser. It should be in line with the T21 that Riflemen get. The DXR6 is a good secondary weapon for mobs with high energy mitigation, but lacks the damage to compete on mobs with similar acid/energy resists--I keep mine on me at all times for this purpose.

Moreover in each patch, they work on T 21... Does they only work for the most common profession ?

You'r not serious, are you?


T-21's miss 33% of the time at IDEAL RANGE (60-64m) with master rifle skill. Under the ideal range your looking at 50-75% miss rates. Does that sound good?


Oh, and ever shoot a T-21? With 600 focus you lose 130+ points of mind shooting headshot3. You lose 150-200 points of mind using strafe shot 2. Does the sound good?


Even better, they just nerfed T-21's down so that the damage makes it look like a spiffed up DLT20a. Does that sound good?

Tek, you missed my point. The T21 is Heavy armor piercing and is a legitimate upgrade to the Laser Rifle in both armor piercing rating and max damage.


I was both Rifleman and Carbineer, but chose Carbineer as I didn't see many in that profession and wanted to be different. In truth, a Pistoleer blows both classes away in DPS, but to that, I say kudos to them.


If the T21 is missing too often, you should post that on the Rifleman board. I am not seeking any nerf to ANY other class, only a review of the one weapon that I have as an upgrade option from my Laser Carbine.


Compare the two weapons (Elite Carb vs Laser Carb) and tell me you do not see an issue with the Elite.


Both are Energy based, both have equivalent HAM costs.


Laser: Medium Armor, Max Damage 250ish (mine is 245 with 2.5 speed)


Elite Light Armor, Max Damage 200ish--this is by no means an upgrade.


I took the time to evaluate these before posting, and my concerns are valid.

I have said it once and I will say it again...ditch the elite...we need a light repeating blaster. The true master carbineer weapon...perfect for our area effects attacks. PLEASE ADD THIS WEAPON!!

Don't go pointing at other proffesions till you have your facts straight. We're ALL getting the shaft. If you want to point at a fuked up proffesion point to the BH's. They get more cool **edit** out of one line than the "elite weapon proffesion" get out of their entire **edit**ing trees.

this is because we spend all our time trying to get our profession fixed instead of crying about what everyone else is doing. so most of our stuff now works. if you, the pistoleers, and rifleman spent more time talking to the devs about things that are not working in your profession, instead of trying to nerf everyone else, you would have a working skillset also... hmmmm people's priotities are truly messed.

Lol TekDragon, can't say I'm surprised to see you in the Carbineer forum... You completely missed the point of BOTH posters at the top. It's like you do an advanced search for T21 and then scan through all the posts that mention it, simply looking for a way to shimmy in some rifleman propeganda.

So, what's wrong with that? Don't see any cry for nerf on riflemen... Let me translate this for you... The Elite Carbine should be to Laser carbine as the T21 is to the Laser rifle. In other words, nobody uses the Elite carbine... As a Master Carbineer I use a laser carbine for 8/10 occassions. I see every rifleman with the cert using a T21 and not the laser rifle... Getting it yet? As it stands, the elite carbine is a downgrade from laser carbine. Is that intended? Possibly...but why? Logic and reason say that the highest level weapon a carbineer gets should be significantly better than a weapon cert in level 3 marksman tree. Rifleman's highest weapon cert is a significant improvement over the others. So, hence the comparison(god forbid).

Again, don't see any jabs at riflemen... I see Shaavic comparing the amount of attention/time the devs spent tweaking the T21(highest rifleman weapon) to the equivilent(highest carbineer weapon)in carbineer. Goodness, what's wrong with that? Again, that wasn't a jab at rifleman... Just a jab at devs asking why they are able to patch the T21 twice without touching or mentioning the Elite Carbine. Were the T21 patches just the way rifleman want em'? Hell no, but this isn't the rifleman forum. We all hope that you(and other rifleman) are making your issues known on your forum(riflemen perhaps?) utilizing your coorespondant. This is why we have seperate profession forums in the first place, so people can discuss issues/fixes/bugs/imbalances on a particular profession.


Thx for throwing some rifleman issues into a thread having absolutely no bearing on a rifle.

You need to take a better look at this thread and these forums. The LAST thing we carbineers want is to nerf other professions. We would certainly like to spend ALL of our time talking to the devs about things in our profession not working, however, it is rather difficult to do that when the devs don't say a word to us for months.

Luckily you guys don't have to deal with Tekdragon much as we do on the Wanderhome forums. He claimed to have quit a week ago...yet for some reason we still get the honor of him trolling various forums. Can only hope he fades from SWG quickly over the new few days.

I think we all agree that master carbine is way too underpowered compared to other carbines and other weapons.. but instead of telling devs to upgrate it to do more damage, it would be better to think how it helps carbineer on their main purpose(in swg).. which is crow control and suppression.


So far we have only fullautoarea skills and legshot3 (cone effect is not working yet) so at least i would like to see it to do some area damage like ee3. Just think full auto area to 5-10 mob and area damage top of it. it would not matter if weaponis rated only damage 200 or so..


Or somesort of boost to fullauto attack which woulddrive mobsdown to knees/belly and morale penalty. but that cant made with just weapon change.Im sure everyone would like idea of somesort 'heavy machine gun' butin swg code it would not work too well since we have/will have cap for min firedelay, and it might fall to commando class better anyway.
