A similar theme turned up on the architect forum, and I want to get a general impression from the larger community.

Remember this is the PRO NERF thread, so post here if you want to VOTE that resource hoarding should be NERFED!

I want to get a general impression from the larger community

Since I belong to the larger community you want an impression from, I guess I will answer even though I have no problem with resource hording.

Crafting is not a casual player friendly profession. You can be a casual crafter and have fun, I have done itmany times. But hard work (yes work in a game) and long term outlook, and investment is rewarded in this game. You spend long hourse searching for the best resources, you consider that your resources are limited and can not exist for long periods of time, you jump in with everything you got when a fantastic spawn occures. These things make the you the best crafters. If you are a casual crafter you do not have the resources the serious crafter has.

Restricting resource hording is to protect the casual crafter who complains he was not around when it spawned, he could not affort to drop 40 harvesters when it did spawn, he does not have the credit to pay some 'evil' horder who has the excellent resources months after it has run out for everyone.

The idea is to reward hard work not penalize it.

I don't see the need to create two separatethreads for this topic. If the purpose is to generate discussion, that would be accomplished much better by having a single thread where people from both sides of the debate can post their arguments and rebut the other sides arguments.

A serious crafter must have a resourse hoard...especially if u want to make Hi quality goods for a long while.

I posted a discussion comment to someone else in my other thread, so to avoid changing the "straw poll" balance (which is already obviatedanyway), I decided to post here too.

I'm not against hoarding. I believe it is a natural, rational action when durable resources of widely varying qualities have time-limited availability. I also believe that any "take-aways" that attempt to limit hoarding in the game will cause drastic, deleterious, and unpredictable changes in game play.

Enough said. There should be plenty implied for the profuse logical cutlery and artillery of our player base to work on.
