Thread: Post to this thread ONLY IF you think that resource hoarding is bad and should be limited.

People arguing against this really makes me laugh. These are the communists that think that every resource should be the same as the rest, thus taking away the competative edge this system provides. The economy and resource systems in this game are what make it GREAT. It's this system that allows me to run a business that can either stand out from other people or get smothered because they're doing it better.

I vote for capitalism and say nay to communism. Fooey to these people I say!

Point to ponder: I am one of the lowest priced weaponsmiths on my server. Without my resource hoard (worth about 1 billion by now...) my costs would skyrocket and my prices would too. I could literally make 20 times as much money selling my resources, but I hold on to them so I can continue producing low cost weapons for the people of my server.

FYI: The 30K resource crate was supposed to level the playing field and to a certain extent, it did.

If only they weren't mostly used up on Lightsaber resource vendors...dang Jedi lol.

I don't quite understand the problem here..

I started this game about two years ago. I hand crafted tons of things to earn credits. i used those credits to buy bigger and better harvesters as time went on. I grabbed the largest amounts of good resources every chance I got and have used them for various professions that I have had over time. I believe I earned these resources.

Is the problem here that you are jelious that my hard work has paid off for me?

It's called an economy, and it works just fine in this game. The only bad things that have happen to the economy really have been the changes brought on by the CU that has dumbed down crafting causing new players to be able to craft next to perfect items because of people that think like you.

This is only semi-against so I hope its not considered OT.

Hoarding is ok up to a point. Anything you can hoard with 1 account (10 lots) is probably not unbalancing at all.

I think the people who were complaining about /paymaintenance not working and the inconvenience it was causing them checking their 200+ harvestors are the problem. While it is perfectly legal to open multiple accounts and put all your toons on administrator and to rent lots from other players, we are talking about 200 lots here. Who in their right mind opens 20 accounts unless they are a credit seller planning to make it all back?

I haven't tested it but I wonder if you have 2 accounts and create two toons on the same server, if one toon can place harvestors, put the other toon on admin and then be deleted. I think the harvestor would stay and the second toon can still pay maintenance and power (though he can't move it). This way you could create fields of static harvestors. I think this is why /paymaintenance was disabled.

There are people that start up a lot of accounts. I know some actually. Not 20 accounts. I think they had 12-15 between them.

No, if you delete a character, any structure the char has placed will poof. People get all these static harvesters from lot trades. They get more accounts because you could only get a max of 80 lots on an account.

Not sure about how well that works. I've seen a number of threads about structures not disappearing after the characters were deleted.
