REMOVE LOOPING MACROS
Its as simple as that..
If you can't loop a macro, then you can't go afk for 12 hours at the coronet starport spamming the incomming players, Causing them lag and even causing some to crash.
If you can't loop a macro then you can't go afk for 24 hours killing Swooper Leaders and looting everything they drop. In affect preventing anyone else a chance at that loot.
I Know this solution would also remove buffbots from the game.. but if you can't find a buffer godo solo missions, you ARE suppoed to be able to take solo missions by yourself, Unbuffed..
We as a player base rely to heavly on buffs anyhow
I agree 100%
Get rid of the recursive macros and the game will be 5 times better than it ever has been. Also, limit the length of a macro so that a cut/paste job can't be done to make a super-extended non-recursive macro. I'm so tired of seeing people playing the game who aren't really "playing" because they haven't been at their computer all day long.

I'm sure this is probably the gulzillionth post about this subject but I feel that the time has come for drastic changes to the system to be made. People will doubtless leave one word replies '/addignore' I see emerging, but it's not as simple as that. Using that command will help doubtless, but where do you go once you've got a couple of hundred people in your folder that you've ignored. This approach while effective is just not feasible anymore. In my previous guild I was found on 3 people's /addignore list simply because I had been at Theed Spaceport shouting for details of a particular vendor waypoint. Spamming ruins the game experience. I was at C'net yesterday evening to find it was a lagfest. The text in the box was moving so fast through that I had to switch to another tab as it was driving me mad. SOE have to address this problem, and do it soon

It seems spam is very different from one server to another. I recently started a character on kauri and discovered that many players there were hardcore spammers. They were spamming their ad every 30 seconds, it seemed like i was the only to complain about it so i started to /addignore like crazy, i even reduced the size and time on chat bubbles. For me, people shouldn't spam more than every 90 seconds.

Thats true the spamming on gorath is crazy too. I have many many people on my ignore list because i hate it to run trough the starport coronet and to see so many spam

My question is do any of these spammers actually make any business?? I mean, when I see someone spamming in Coronet it's and automatic ignore(unless it's a doc). On Sunrunner, Theed is dead at most hours of the day, and I keep my barker droid out there sometimes(hardly ANY spammers in Theed) and get more business there then I ever did putting it in Coronet. You would think people would see the massive amounts of spammers in Coronet and say "screw this, I'll move my spam somewhere people can actually see it."
To the people who put there barker droids out or spam at less populated starports...if it's something I'm looking to buy I usually take a look at there shop just because they chose to take there spam away from Corellia......I don't know about the rest of you all but I absolutely HATE going to Coronet because of spam.Almost everytime I shuttle there is someone new to ignore.

Yes. Crafters usually start as a spammers, cause that's the most effective way to attract seriuos amount of customers (if you offer something usefull of course). After they generate own customer base they quit spamming (usually).

If spam goes away, you're going to have no new crafters entering the market. Think about it, how does a new crafter let everyone know he's there? And with the number of older crafters leaving the game and dropping their trades what happens then? With the population decline and competing with JTL it's already hard to compete as it is. Taking away spam can be a death blow to the market.

"when I see someone spamming in Coronet it's and automatic ignore(unless it's a doc)."
So what you're saying is that you don't like SPAM unless it's for a service you actually want or are interested in.
Therein lies the problem with eliminating spam entirely. Personally, I find Doc spam the most annoying, since the vast majority of the time I use a buff-house and have no interest in a starport doc. For me, the spam I'm "interested" in seeing is Shipwright ads. There are other players who perhaps don't know a really great Weaponsmith to craft them that special custom weapon, so I'm sure they're interested in seeing Master WS adverts.

spam is too much when u have 3-4 bubles pop at once every 30 seconds...add in 5-6 of those chars and u get lag-orama
spammers should only spam the auction channel
i tend to look in there when im biking somewhere and check out offers and shops

The only way spam will be reduced or eliminated is to introduce a new, universally usable system to advertise or sell goods.
Merchants with the ability to post on the planetary map have no real need to spam, and more people are using this to find goods since the changes to the Merchant Vendor system means you will not find an empty vendor at a location posted on the map any more.
But for those without the skill points, there is no way outside of spamming at starports for them to advertise. Only a system that allows non-Merchants the ability to advertise without lessening of the Merchants Planetary advertisment skill will be acceptable.
One option is to allow access of Merchant vendors via the Bazaar terminals. I don't know the difficulty of this from a programming standpoint, and won't try to guess, but it can't be harder than the combat rebalance. To compensate the Merchant profession, items purchased in this manner (via Bazaar and not actual point-of-sale location) should have a surcharge, 20% not being out of the question. Merchants would still have the bonus of having their POS location advertised on the map, plus additional bonuses reducing the amount of the surcharge TO ITEMS PURCHASED BY THEM ON THE BAZAAR (the "good old boy" network). The surcharge would be paid by the purchaser for the convienience of not having to travel out to a POS location.
The only way to eliminate spamming is to insure their is no reason to spam.

Actually on sunrunner there is a real problem with the spammers especially the buffbots. They abolutely never stop one statement on another on another. I went there to spend a little time free lance smuggleing. Only expecting to advertise every two minutes. Well to my chagrin there were three buffbots there. And after a couple minutes just to get my statement read I was hitting my hotbutton constantly. I realized I was in spam wars.
You know what would help removeing commands like /shout /say. If you take away commands like that no player could macro any dialogue.
I agree.

In beta they had it implemented that your goods appeared on the bazaar. It was a big PITA because from what I recall it just listed the closest town to the shop. So instead of getting to the Anchorhead bazaar to pick something up I found out that the goods were actually halfway between Anchorhead and Jabba's. I vaguely recall also that you did not know it was not at that Bazaar until you got there, and had to email/msg the person for the waypoint. This of course is almost two years ago so my memory is not exactly sure on the implementation, but it was possible within the coding at that time to have shop items on the bazaar.
I imagine the only reason this was not fully implemented is due to the time involved, and work proceeding on the merchant side of things to advertise on the map. I have no idea how to stop the spammers though, and admit I am guilty of buying spammed goods because I have used the map to try to find shops only to find them either empty or close to.
