Thread: OK, how do fighters make money, now?

This is not intended as a complaint, but a place for ideas on how fighters in this game can make money now, given the group nerf.

The devs made it this way, and we have to deal with it, or go play another game. I prefer to stay.

I have tried loot wh*ring, elders are dropping crap, Nyax has given me grenades 8 (!) straight times, the tusken king gave me a stunningly crappy gaffi, and the art, etc. that was worth something is now common enough to warrant prices more appropriate to art, and not uber weapons.

I ask you all, as a fighter template, if running destroy missions barely generates enough money to fund a day's PvP, how does one make money anymore.

Please do not say the following

Get a crafter alt. I shouldnt have to have 2 accounts so I can have fun with one, and pay for it with another. If I wanted a crafter, Id have played one already.

Use JTL. I have it, but my purpose here is to find ways a FIGHTER can earn cash.

Kill stuff and sell the meat/hide/bone to a crafter. Got that one, looking for something slightly less BORING, and more productive.

It seems that fighters used to generate money in the game by running missions, then spending it at a crafter's vendor. The problem was, the economy exploded when the crafters realized they had no outlet for the money. It either circulated amongst them for the resources, etc., or they funneled it to their fighter alts. At any rate, there was/is no way for the money to recirculate to the fighters in any way other than harvesting dead creatures. Well, now that the fighters cannot generate money, no one can afford to spend money at the crafter's vendors. They still have money, but as they spend it, there isnt any more coming in.

Yes, I am generalizing, but I hope my crappy economic model is understandable. Please try to be constructive with help, advice, etc.

If it's cash you are after, go with whatever method generates the most income. JTL is probably the best option at this time. If you are a fighter, then your primary objective when fighting shouldn't be cash, it should be the hunt.

if you think it's hard to make money as a fighter now just wait untell everything gets nerfed in the next patch and we are forced to group to kill anything that isn't on a mission term.

Well, thanks, but my point was that I want to play a fighter. However, I also want to be able to afford to play that fighter. I would very much like to be able to use that fighter to earn credits. Not millions a day, just enough to keep me in food, armor and guns. I think it would be outstanding if I could find a way to play this game with my one character I like so much, doing the fighting that I like so very much.

Looking for suggestions on fun ways to make reasonable money while playing a fighter, aside from selling meat/hides.

Hope that's a little clearer.

My first question is - Where are you running missions? I'm a Shipwright with Merchant and TKM thrown in - And I can make 300k in a single session easily. Admittedly, this isn't close to the 800k -1 mill I used to be able to get - But 300k isn't at all a paltry sum. I do missions on Yavin and Dantooine - Without a group, and still get 11-12k missions, which are a snap to complete. If you are looking for Million dollar buff sessions, they are a thing of the past, and it's best to adapt your thinking. Never fear though, because costs to you WILL come down, it will just take a while.

best thing to do is to get your pet out, equip your best weapon etc, and then check the mission terminal (when with you pet in group).. generates nice missions, 5-11k if i'm right.. and well, that's something

Exactly what I am looking for, though I would ask that the focus of replies be directed more to newer players who I am directing to this forum. I can figure out ways to pull missions, and I have contacts who will pay for meat, etc. But those things take time to develop, and I find more and more people telling me they tried this game, but couldnt undertsand or compete as a crafter, or they WANTED to be a fighter, but couldnt generate income, especially withnovice combat professions.

Good greif, how does a fighter make money?

Doesnt anybody remember what life was like before uber buffs, composite armor clones and solo-uber groups?

A solo player with a pet (or combat droid) can still easily pull 10k missions. Missions that you can still blow through in record time, at least until the CU.

You can harvest critters and sell hides/meat/bone. You can still sell your loots. The only thing that has changed is that you no longer can get 30k missions + any loots. You can do 10k missions and maybe get lesser loot, or solo group missions for 3k and get maybe better loots.

Heh. I started a thread like this a few weeks ago. Got lots of one stars from it.

Basically, people are going to start telling you you're lazy, because as a fighter you should be:

1.Killing high end critters and selling the loot (doesn't matter that nothing's dropping...kill high end critters and sell the loot).

2. Sell meat and hide (doesn't matter if you do or don't have contacts to sell to, or if, as in my case, you don't really have sp to blow on scout...go sell meat and hide).

3. Drop harvesters (doesn't matter if you don't have any lots left....drop harvesters).

There really isn't any good way for fighters to make money anymore, other than the above three. With solo grouping, it was mind numbingly dull, but in the end, you came away with a fat chunk of change to show for it. Now, it's just mind numbingly dull.

One mythical day, months and months and months in the future, the economy will "adjust" to reflect the new reality. Or, so say the people who were all for the group nerf. Until that day comes, either be bored, or be broke.

This is kind of paradoxal, since most of the money in the game comes from missions - in other words - fighter missions.
(I'm not sure, but I don't think you can become financially rich from entertainer or artisan missions... or can you? )

My 0.02 credits.

Apples and Oranges. A newer player doesn't have the same financial needs an experienced player has. Most of you have two or three specific sets of armor that you whip out as the occassion fits. Going to the corvette, where's my energy suit, going to PVP where's my stun suit.

I went half the way up the swordsman class before my first set of ubese ran out, and that's before I knew about repairs. Newer players can survive plenty well until they master that first combat skill.

Me personally, I would rather have seen new higher payout higher difficulty missions that require groups instead of nerfing solo groups. How about new Janta village missions.

That last one wasnt quite as helpful as I hoped, though some of the others were.

I have played since 2 months after launch. I am no noob. I am writing this FOR the new players who are trying to start, as a place to go for helpful suggestions.

Berating me for not remembering what it was like in the day, (especially considering I've been playing long enough to have known legends on my server who are now gone, such as Enott, Leezard, and the infamous Brownring, for those on bloodfin) certainly is of no help to those who have no idea what it was like then, and are frustrated at not being able to break into the composite market.

Just as an exercise, as you are berating my noobness, and reminding me what it used to be like way back when. Try whipping out a dlt20a, and run missions with that and your uber bone or chitin armor, and dont forget, you dont have enough for buffs OR stims, let alone powerups, and just getting money to train up to rifles 2, at 7-800 creds per mission takes a while. Then try to work your way into novice rifles, and earn enough for your first t-21, and please try to remember what it is like trying to break the plane into your first 250k set of composite.

Once again, please try to be helpful to the newer players I am directing here, lest they lose all hope, and with them, the future of our game.
