So...why exactly do we keep our cash in the bank? 5% bank transfer fee...easier to hand-tip cash...I see no advantage to this at all.
How about earning a little interest on our cash we store in the bank, eh?

A great idea... Having cash in the bank made sense when corpse runs were in place as only your on-hand money could be looted... since that got killed VERY early on, there is no real reason now not to keep all your cash on ya...

don't think this would be a godd idea.
In real life banks are a business..... they take your money and pay you a token interest rate as an incentive for you to give them your money. They then loan out the money in the form of morgages and loans and make money from the money people have saved with them.
so if the SWG bank payed interest to players.... how does the bank make its money to pay out in the form of interest?
in other words its free money.
The 5% fee is a service you are paying for....its not mandatory.... if you want to avoid it then you will have to meet people in game face to face for transactions to occur.

This is true... since you no longer lose money upon death, there is no reason to have money in the bank.

There is now a benefit as if you have cash in the bank then your structure maintenance can be deducted from it without you having to visit the location to fill it up.
Interest isn't going to happen as it will make the rich richer and not help the poor at all.
Now, if the game was to implement some form of a loan system so a new player could say borrow 50k to buy some buffs and weapons and repay it over the following week with interest, then it could work. But I doubt it (would need various controls to prevent abuse)

Banks pay interest on deposits based on fees and interest they collect from other people banking.
The bank is making good enoughmoney that it can pay for me to have my money at their location.
So id say interes would be fair.

Interesting idea, but for there to be a reason for the banks to pay interest on savings, they would need to be able to provide loans with interest charges. If banks could provide loans, then savings interest should be implemented alongside it.

Bank interest would be free money, with no risk or effort involved. For a MMORPG this is abad idea. Some players have so much money that the bank interest alone would cover all their daily expenses (maintenance, buffs, insurance, etc.).

That was my thought on the idea. I would never have to actually craft again if there was interest.
