They have no faith in the fairness of the current galaxy economies. Devs, start a new galaxy that doesn't have a borked economy even if it means closing a server and angering some people. Then use all your marketing to publicize this.. I think you'll be surprised at the response.. I know of at least 7 people in my current group of friends that would love to come back, but won't because they have no confidence that the current economies are legit, and not the product of resource and credit dupe bugs.

not a very good idea... in a couple months those servers would become get just a messed up econommy as all the others and other long-time vet players would go over to those servers and sorry but why the hell would u want to get rid of a server if your goal is to make people come back to the game! that would probably make a TON more people quit the game

sorry but idea is no good

Yeah, how would, exactly, a new server help? And if you closed my server I would burn the SOE offices to the ground.

I'm very curious. How in a player run economy did the developers mess things up?

closing a server would just be IDIOTIC... what they do need to do is open about five new servers for play.... I know I would go play on it

Yes Devs, please start a new server from scratch. That way, in a couple of months everyone that plays on that server can come to the Business and Economy forum and complain about how borked up their server's economy is. That way, they can complain that inflation is rampant and they can't make any money, and that all the veteran players moved over to the new server and are cleaning up because they know how to work the system. Yes, please do this, because as you can see we don't get nearly enough complaining here as it is. Thanks.

the devs didn't screw up the economy.. and the player based economy is fine if all things are equal. If you don't believe that early, MASSIVE credit and resource dupes continue to this day to wreak havok on the economies than you're living in a fantasy land other than SWG, and If you think that I would feel the same way about a new server in a few months you're incorrect.

EVEN if the problems caused by dupes have been corrected, which I don't believe that that are, and if you ask anyone that has left, it is one of their main gripes (hosed economies) EVEN IF they are all better, the main point of my post is that there is no confidence that you're playing on a even playing field.

Just like in the real world, consumer confidence which is a purely emotional quantity drives the economy.. when consumers aren't confident, they don't buy, and when players aren't confident that others aren't benefiting even on a 4th or 5th tier level from cheating, then they won't play.

Enough people to fill a server would come back if the game was restarted and publilcized.

We all started on an evenplaying field. My character started with 250 credits, a maroj melon, survival knife and a generic crafting tool in front of the Moenia starport. You can't get much more level than that. A new server isn't going to change anything because you will still have the same people whining that they want the best of everything and that they should get it for next to nothing.

it isn't about gameplay..it isn't about things being way overpriced, or not being able to get uber everything on the same afternoon you roll a new toon. You will have that type of complainging always.

What I'm saying is that there is a core group of players that have a confidence issue, myself included. The confidence revolves around the fact that many people stopped playing because there was cheating going on, and they will not play on a server that is suspect.

The cheating is a matter of documented fact. Hell, I recall looking at offfical dev posts discussing the credit dupes, and showing graphs and stats on how they planned on getting those credits out of the system.

A new server would give those players at least the piece of mind that all known ways of cheating have been elminated and they are playing within a virgin economy that isn't suspect. Now, the time may arrive when a new exploit is discovered and taken advantage of, that would be a bad bad thing.

The bottom line is, not to be the bearer of bad news that people don't want to admit to, but from everything I can observe, the game is not on the up swing, it is on the down swing, and it is just a matter of time unless something is done to revive it. I'm sure that will garner a lot of flames, but the evidence is there.

Here is one, check the forums at mid day one day and scroll down and look at when the last forum post was. I did it yesterday and the prior last post was ~4 hours earlier. That ought to tell you something.

The economy is fine... The only persons having a bit of trouble would be newbs with the start of 250 credits. After that your good
