Thread: Stopping Credit Sellers
actually thats because the advertising is often controlled by who is hosting the fan site, not the people who run the site itself. for SOE to punish fan sites like that would severely limit where you can get hosting.
One way for SOE to keep it under control is Station Exchange...but the one time they mentioned this on the forums it got shot down in flames.
If you could buy or sell through Sony then everyone who has been tempted to do it, but been worried they would get banned, will buy and sell when they like. Lots more money will change hands and prices will drop to the point where its not going to be worth selling any in bulk, or having sweatshops running teams of credit farmers.
thegame350 wrote:Its never gunna stop. If SOE offers lets say 10 million credtis for 10 dollars then credit farmers will just sell the same for 9 dollars. See?Plus if SOE starts selling credits everyone is going to buy them, This will raise prices up on even the simplest things in our galaxy. How bout 100k for a swoop instead of 20k? 3 million for a set of Ubese thats 50% Kinetic and 70% energy? Some servers may be like this already and its a sad thing. But servers like mine have a good economy right now. Its to the point where you don't need to have 50 million credits just to survive.
Now you're being ridiculous. It's far easier to grind that money than use real money to buy the credits. There is a point where it becomes an underperforming profit activity to sell credits. There are limits to how much they can sell and how low they can sell it.

It is not against the rules, they can say it is.. but legal battles have already been won.
You are not buying credits, you are buying the other persons "time" that it took him to make the credits, level a character, find the good loots.. ect

What legal battle? What country?
As far as I've heard there was one case in Korea I think and Korean law doesn't apply outside Korea. If theres legal precedent in USA then I have not heard about it.
Everyone says the "your buying my time" thing in the eBay auctions. But that doesn't make it legal. THe EULA for SWG explicitly forbids sale of credits.
I think I might open a bar in RL. I don't want to fuss with a liqueur licence so I think I'll just sell the time I took to pickup and stock the booze.
I also may decide to start selling pot. If I get busted, I'll only get possession rather than distribution since I've got the old "selling my time to grow it" defense up my sleeve.
I'm not saying I know how such a case would end up in court. I just know that if the "time" argument held up, it'd be pathetic.
ROFL

Hahahaha thats great. Im almost tempted to get busted for selling weed just to use that excuse, if you got off for it, youd immediatly be considered one of the uberest guys in american history.
As for selling credits being illegal, it doesnt matter. SOE can ban anyone for any reason or no reason, becsue the game is played on their servers. At the very most what someone would get if they filed a lawsuit against SOE is the money they had already spent playing the game, so the point is moot.
