Thread: Pay for the Wookie Expansion? *coughs hairball* I think NOT
One simple answer: $$$

As a long time tester for SWG you couldnt be more wrong. JTL was suppose to be part of the original release according to Lucas Arts. Lucas did not want to have Star Wars be EQ. Sadly things did not go as planned for SWG and it was released without space flying for a long time. Lucas has said SWG was suppose to be released a space game as well as land. Clearly this did not happen, thus why a good % of the game left after a few months
So if they wanted JTL in at launch, why did they force SOE to push the game out the door by threatening to pull the project?

Your assertion that SOE has given us nothing since the game has come out is so laughably false that you are either ignorant of the mass amount of changes that have gone in or you are blinded by your hatred for SOE. You are a long-time player so it is obviously the latter. You say you rarely play SWG anymore, so why don't you just quit and go enjoy WoW for the month and a half that it will entertain you?
I have played many MMORPG's and you know what i hear everytime?

I gotta tell you guys at SOE, you really think customers are going to run out and buy a wookie expansion after the broken promises we have had with SWG? It was bad enough we had to buy the space expansion due to you just didnt get it ready in time for the retail release of SWG. Why not released attack of the womprats, that sure would seem a lot more fun then the wookie planet. I am having a really hard time paying 15.00 a month for a game I rarely play because the promise of new content takes years to come about. There are still MASSIVE bugs from Jump to light speed and dont even get me started how bad the bugs are with SWG which have never been fixed. Now all of a sudden out of the closet instead of working on the stuff SOE should have been fixing we are going to create ANOTHER major problem into this game by adding the wookie expansion.
You have to be kidding me.. I honestly have to say this is the least SOE could do for us by giving us CONTENT for once is to give us this expansion. God knows they have given us NOTHING for the 2 years of service we have. SOE comes up with the combat revamp which to date still isnt publish and we have been talking about this for 18 months now. So the free stuff takes forever, but yet the Pay stuff comes out of the blues and HEY next month its here. NO THANK YOU, Not gonna do it and have my game that is majorly bug ridden be even worse. Its time to draw the line here

1. No community
SWG doesn't have a great community. These forums and the scathing remarks are exhibit A. The ingame behavior is even worse and is exhibit B.
PvP hate PvE. PvE hate PvP. RP hate intruding PvE and PvP into their RP. It is a vicious circle of hate and grief from the players.
Compared to WoW, this is a million times better, WoW got the bnet l33t doods. I was actually expecting them not to want to pay to play and was praying that entire field to come over, well it did. Forums are like this in every game, but I played WoW from November 23rd at 3am EST(as soon as it went up) until about a 2weeks ago. Player interaction is inlarge guilds are the only viable options, if you like chilling with 100+ or guildies great, but anything less than 30 you can't even do all the content, without tons of luck.
2. Simplistic crafting
SWG crafting is the simplist of all crafting systems on the market. Double click resources to load them in. Click next. That is it. The rest is just the closing of the session and has no effect(other than experimentation) on the actual crafting of the object. It is done in the background. EQ2 has the most interesting crafting system that requires player interaction from start to finish.
Have you ever crafted in SWG by that statement? Heck, even wow and EQ2 was like that put thing in area(or simplier have it in your inventory) and press a button. SWG has something called experiment and resource quality(mind you EQ2 has some quality, but resources don't have it, just components that you make) If you played since beginning you'd know SWG has one of the hardest crafting systems to date, unless you want to make utter junk, then sure it can be a cake walk. Not even including looted enhancements that can add damage, resistances, take away ham cost, +-range, etc. For example look at composite now and then, August 03', 35% was about the best without uber krayt composite. Now, 70%+. And how did people get a difference of doubling the previous best almost two years ago? By sticking with the game, learning how to craft good items, etc. Only 3 classes get a fair amount of non-resource quality architect, DE, and tailor, er..smuggler as well. The others have a large amount of weight on stats and even a 10 difference on a certain resource can change that stats.
3. Level ceiling
All MMORPGs have a "level ceiling". All of them. SWG has 250 skill points, that is your limit. However in SWG you could be in a situation of having a few points left over and no where to spend them, so infact SWGs level system is horrid compared toother systems.
Sorry, wrong again. A level ceiling is what a level cap is. We have no level cap, we get skill points that can be changed at will. At level 60 in WoW and after X amount of BRS and X other instance run for the Class sets(which is the best so everyone that wants the best looks the exact same, not even dyes for equipment for crying out loud.) Game over other than helping others until at least Battlegrounds are inserted, hence the reason why if you drop over to the forums all the HC Eq players are bored and have left. I can swap my profession as much as I want and mix and match staying MY TOON on SWG, I like the ability to not have a cap and be slammed into a ROLE and be stuck as that ROLE. Go be a rogue and have fun being tossed into a raid out of pure peity, not because you bring anything to the group or serve even a purpose, look at the majority of hunters next.
4. Repetitive action
Again, all MMORPGs have repetitive actions in one form or another. However SWGs action seems nothing but repetitive with very little dynamic occurence. An example was artisan sampling. They spiced it up with a very rare chance of locating a nearby source that was better or a chance to spend 300 action to mine a larger amount from the node you were working on. That is all they added. It would have been more interesting and fun if during your mining you accidently disturbed some sleeping bug like a kreetle on Tattooine while sampling, or locating a random mission in the form of a half buried manuscript that you had to deliver to X on planet Y for Z reward.
I agree, but we have recursive macros in swg that allows us to skip the horribly boring stuff, like sampling like you stated, they actually had to put in the better chance to stop the macro when the game first came out, and people got around it by adding a nice sit; stand; in it. I love that I can be at work, sleeping, out with family or friends and run some sort of macro, some enjoy afk looting, and others enjoy buffbots, Afk Ents, etc. Got 5k of sampling to go to get to Survey IV, go watch a movie and enjoy yourself.
Another thing to comment on is the vast landscape of WoW, I admit its beautiful. I have a large amount of SS I took even, went out of my way to look for paths to scale X mountain cliff to take a few. But other than that all the creatures are the same, quest in all MMO's areboring after about a day of running them. Other than spell resistance things don't resist X slashing, piercing, crushing(at least not to a noticable level of degree) so there is never a need to switch to X weapon as a fighter.
My major rip on WoW is one: LOOT. Its all the same, from the company that invented an amazing loot system, see Diablo II, with Rares, Uniques, Sets, and Ethereal items, comes WoW with one of the most horrible loot systems I've ever played. They have Rares, which are common Epics(which are non-stat changing/varing uniques) Where is my charge of firebolt on my giant 2h that I can use for S&g's?

I will be purchasing JTL this week and ROTW ASAP.
Best wait and buy ony the new expansion, JTL will be a free gift with it
This is wrong...
you become a temp flag for JTL if you pre-order RotW via Digital Download...
you can test it for 2 weeks but JTL isnt incl. in the new Exp-Pack RotW.
You have to buy JTL if u want to play RotW...
this is fact.
its getting closer and closer to EQ in with a space theme

JTL was never supposed to be part of the initial launch.
You seem to hate the game with a passion, so much so that it has driven you to make massive, false generalizations ("God knows they have given us NOTHING for the 2 years of service we have."). Why not just quit and get on with your life? I suggest you avoid the MMOG genre in the future because:
1. All of them have bugs. Bugs that stick around for a while, bugs that are quick and easy to squash, bugs that are so insignificant that they are left alone forever.
2. None of them have customer service that is going to bow to your every whim/do precisely what you want.
3. All of them bring out expansions that you have to buy separately on a regular basis.
Lucas did not want to have Star Wars be EQ.

I approve this message. I really must wonder if some of you are playing the same game. Statements like "SWG has a bad community" (based on the forums, which is hardly a way to judge a game's community), "SWG's crafting system is one of the simplest around", "WoW makes SWG look like Pac-Man/has an endless amount of things to do/has a gigantic world" (That last one is hilarious. If anything, SWG makes WoW look like Pac-Man, there really is not a ton to do in WoW, and WoW's world is among the smallest in any MMORPG currently on the market) shows ignorance/bias for WoW. Go play WoW if it is that much more superior. I will be here enjoying the far more expansive and original SWG.
