Thread: Would you describe yourself as a Have or an Average Player?

I am an average player.
I am an ACHIEVER. Not a "Have" "Have is a nice little class warfare codeword, a nice little way to imply that you don't deserve what you have. I worked to get what I have. And I'm damn proud of what I have achieved in game.
To those who whine that they don't have enough credits, I say this: Get off your lazy bums and run missions, complete your template, run the DWB, run the geo caves, kill some Krayt, hunt Nyms, hunt nightsisters, see what loot is hot and go for it. Make friends with high end crafters and see what they're looking for. Hell, lease your lots if you're not using them.
If you're a crafter do what REAL businessmen do, compete with your rivals. Lower your prices, advertise, give away samples to people. Make connections, put a vendor in a well traveled mall.
ANYONE THAT PUTS EFFORT INTO THIS GAME CAN ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS. It could be a million credits or a billion, but if you want it you can get it. Nothing is beyond your reach unless you are too lazy and bitter to reach for it.

If anyone here can honestly tell me that you have achieved your goals and:
Receiveda bufffrom an unattended character.
Used the AOE exploit or the 30 music/dance stutter buff.
Received the skills with unattended leveling.
Looted the items with an unattended macro.
Bought the items that were received via unattended macro.
Bought credits on EBay.
Bought accessory characters that simply mule lots or do their functions unattended.
Then no. We haven't completely earned it in my eyes. We cheated. And it doesn't even matter if SOE says it is not exploitive, we couldn't play the game without creating a workaround.
And I'm not even saying that it makes you a bad player for doing these things, or taking advantage of these things. What I am saying is that nobody here has any right to say "get off our lazy butts."
Because powergamers are the most lazy and whinny people I know. They can't play with 10 minute waits on shuttles, so they whine for 5 minute waits. They can't play unless non-players do player functions, so they whine to make sure they can get loot while going to school or work. They can't play unless they have more lots than they are allotted, so they whine at anyone who doesn't think there should be swaps. They are the most demanding, lazy players I know, and they whine or threaten to quit if they don't get what they want.
I will not come here and whine that I have never had more than 300,000 credits at any one time. I know what I need to do to get more. I will not come here and whine to say this game isn't fun for me. It has been. I'm not going to whine and say you do not deserve what you have. Why does it even matter? I will not whine and say I don't have a jedi, I have never been to the Death Watch Bunker, the Nightsister Cave, or the Corellian Corvette. The way I see it, it simply means I have more to look foreward to.
But what I will say is I earned every credit, and every XP point I ever received across two servers. It took me eleven months to Master Dancer on Bria. But I did it. Unguilded. Every step. And I know that doesn't mean anything to most of you. But it means a lot to me, and to those who play my profession.
And I will also say that the ones who yell the loudest about the middle class virtues of "hard work" and "smart work," I suspect, are not really workingas hard as they say, and are smart only in terms of how to power through this game before they have to pay too much in monthly fees. After all, who really cares if one received merchant by setting up houses with no goods and having one's guild enter and exit them? The power playersknow that this is a game where credits earned doing the spirit of the thinghave just as much weight on the trade forumsas credits earned against the spirit of the game. So this begs the question of, "why care about the spirit of the game at all?"
So let's all quit with the "working hard" and "working smart" rhetoric. I or any one of you can go to E-Bay and buy all the credits you need, join a PA that will give you everything you need, or buy a second account to do work for you. So what does wealth really in all practical purposes signify?
Two things:either you got it and haven't earned it, or you got it and have earned it. Which one fits your description? Only you all know for sure.
But I say I am a have. What do I have? Fun. I don't need many credits to have it, find it, or provide it to others.
And that makes me a much better player than most these days.

5 stars for you. These guys made us rich, why should we tank all over them? I say we need to have some respect for our meal ticket...dont bite the hand that feeds. They made us.............and they CAN break us.
Should I even bother bringing up the sort of rhetoric that this sort of language can be considered?
Ok guys, seriously, the level to which marxian theory has permiated into our thought processes is distrubing and unhealthy. It is disturbing because of how wide-spread it is, and it is unhealthy because of how it effects our attitude toward achievement.
Is it so hard to understand that some people are just better at accumulating wealth than you? In my experience, both in life and in this game, is that people who are willing to put up and shut up get ahead while people who sit around and complain about the others get nowhere. It has been that way historically, and will be that way for ever after.
Stop whining on the forums about being poor and go do missions. Even without solo missions, making money in this game is relatively easy. Everyone who has a lot of money now was once in your position... The only difference between them and you is their attitude. If you choose to have a bad attitude and complain, you will never get ahead here or in real life - this I can guarantee you. There has never been a successful person that got to where they were by sitting on their ass and asking for what they wanted - go out and EARN your keep.
