I think it ll comes down to jealousy.. Player A wants item Z for X amount of credits. Yet Player A doesnt want to go out and make X amount of credits so He believes that Player B shouldn't be able to buy it for X amount of credits... even though Player B has been on the game much longer than Player A and has spent the time and effort in to building up a bank account.

Yeah ok poor you, you cant afford a premium pearl. Use a 'good' one then. If I read another post talking about how the Economy is measured by the price of Stones I'm going to go beserk!

I don't think jealousy is the case for most of the people who are having problems with the economy. Call me what you will, but in RL a house cost me more than a pair of boots.

Well yes some people will pay to be uber, and I disagree with those that have brought those credits on ebay....

Though as long as no premium pearls drop and a good saber helps kill off Bounty Huntersattackingyou and XP loss can ruin a new Jedi toon I can see that some people would pay real dollars to buy in game credits to have a good saber, its protecting 100's of hours of effort making the character.

Tbh I think there should be quests for loots if they don't drop at quality they used too, as new people entering a profession should not be disadvantaged. Not saying level playing field.. but a way for people to catch up with FUN effort.

Think this is wrong though,

Theres groups of people on my server with one level 80 toon at the keyboard, and 7 level 1 toons (afk)with no badges and just the noob new toon cloths, they are on swoops following the 1 level 80 toon to missions. The level 80 toon gets the missions on pirate camps and only kills the flag - using ranged arms then swoops away for it.. the noob noons have no -ve pirate faction and all get 10K plus each = and these people sell these credits on internet to make a living.

Pretty much the exploit they were using when the lairs had to 1 hit kill bug, but doing pirate camps flags now...

Maybe the credit farmer/seller alt tabs to one of the noobs the other 6 are following and pulls up just short of pirate aggro range - what ever each group does a bit differing I guess. People that buy these credits force up the price of good things on forum actions etc so real players that would not pay for credits miss out on getting the uber items - or infact skill tapes to become 12pt crafters that could sell anything.

They are farming 80K per5 mins = about $72 worth of credits per day @ $3/1 million credits... have heard they do in countries where cheap labour will work for a few dollars a day (sweatshops) .

Well OK I say scan the logs for people that give millions and million to people multiple times a week and ban them if they have been reported as credit exploiters and it shows in logs.

SO people are farming huge amounts of new credits off mission terminals to sell to people that want the uber pearls and things... this drives up the price of things and causes inflation on a server.. more money to cover the same amount of good loot components, resources and rewards within the game.

Expensive pearls are not ruining economy... continued improvement is needed such that exploits are removed and crafters can make items people will grind missions to get as players.

No offense intended, but that's a silly argument to make. A house in real life gets its value from three things: The cost of the building materials. the labor involved, and the land it's built on. A home in SWG doesn't have nearly the amount of value invested in it. The materials are less, only one person makes it, and the land is free. Which means that it has less value in the game compared to other items, items that are actually hard to come by.

And, lets take your comparison all the way. It's not just a normal pair of boots (krayt pearl). These are rare,"magical" boots, that make you better than anyone else at your job. Only a few of these boots are up for sale, and everyone in your profession wants them terribly. You can bet that these boots would cost you more than your house did, even in areal world economy.

You said: this is a severe problem with the game. money shouldnt buy better armor, it should buy BARCs. money shoulnt buy better weapons, itsshould buy statues. money shouldnt buy pearls, it should buy furniture. this is a game and should remain fun, not a chore.

Wow. If that's how you feel, you must really hate the real world.

The developers have stated many times (directly and indirectly) that their methodology is no different than that of any large government: They look at economic data, make decisions accordingly. If the numbers are behaving as they should (i.e. - they match up with the predictions derrived from well-known modern economic models), they consider the game to be "working as intended." These pearls becoming more expensive (on account of rarity) probably makes them giddy ... "Oh, look! The economy in the game is just like the one that I hate every day of my life in the real world? HOOORAY!"

Yeah, there's a million arguments against this sort of system, but we don't needyou (or anyone else here) to tell us what they are. We have the writings ofKarl Marx, Adam Smith, and countless others, to do just that. For better or for worse, I don't see a Communism Patch coming any time soon, so were I you, I'd get used to this sort of thing. Capitalism, innit?

Maybe not having premium pearls and better is a way of SOE discouraging people from being jedi, because they'll have such crappy weapons. Than again theyve made it pretty easy to grind.
