It actually reminds me of the recent problem that Creature Handlers had, where every tamed pet suddenly had a creature level of 1 and 10 health points.

And like the Creature Handler problem, despite beingreported on Test Centerit was still allowed to go Live. (Although the Creature Handler problem was actually thought to have been fixed but went Live because itgot confused with another problem with a similar description that was fixed.)

When I see results like these, I can't help but wonder: Would such core gameplay bugs ever be allowed to go Live if they crippled a combat profession?

Sure, all the combat professions have had problems... but have pistols ever completely stopped firing? Has there ever been a time whenall melee weapons suddenly started doing a maximum ofjust 10 points of damage?

It's hard to imagine a publish ever being allowed to go Live that affected any direct combat profession to that degree. That's part of why it's so upsetting to see bugs that are equally cripping (in the case of CHs) or nearly as painful (in the case of crafters) appearing not to enjoy the same level of concern from SOE.

Add to this the message sent over the past two years that crafters don't need major content (such as the Geonosian caves, the Corellian Corvette, the Deathwatch Bunker, the Hermit of Tatooine quest, etc.), and therecent spike in the number ofhigh-end loot items provided by NPCs, and who can blame crafters for feeling unwanted?

I like CHs (I enjoyed being one), but let's be honest: SWG could survive pretty much unscathed without them. Crafters, however, are a different story -- in a player economy like SWG's, if you send the message to your crafting community that their core gameplay isnot valued, they'll leave.

If a few leave, no big deal (other than the lost subscription revenue). Ifnumerous craftersleave, prices for in-game items go up (becausea reducedsupply of crafted goods causes scarcity).

And if a lot ofcrafters leave... goodbye, player economy; hello, same old NPC economy as everybody else.

I think that would be a loss to SWG and the online game industry. I hope it won't happen. But withouta steady supply oftangibleevidence that SOE cares about retaining crafter-type players in SWG, what else are we supposed to think?

Umm. Nothing wrong with that. Nothing in MMO states "forced grouping".

The problem with making easier ways to make money is that everyone will have more money, including the rich people - thus driving up prices even more. Instead, there needs to be more competition to drop prices, and perhaps even levy some kind of tax on the rich people... a luxury tax perhaps?

More competition would drop prices, but why would we need a tax on rich players? Rich players aren't driving up the prices of common items, like swoops or laser rifles. Rich players buy rare, high end items, which are going to be expensive no matter how we fiddle with the economy. Taxing rich players won't bring the prices of premium pearls or krayt weapons down to where "middle-class" or "poor" players can afford them. All it would do is punish successful players--and probably drive them out of the game.

This all breaks down the the desire of a, pardon the term, n00b! "I want more money and anyone that has more should give it to me."

There is no depression.

Money is there to be made. There always seems to be those who can't/won't adapt or put in the work, who then want to nerf everyone else's ability to make credits.

You call other people noobs but you paid 1.3 million for an unappraised crystal? Well, duh. I think I see the problem.

I dont know what depression you are talking about but my SW and artisan business is plugging along just fine and I dont even advertise.

Methinks people need to get off the price of krayt pearls as a basis of determining the SWG economy. ITs the commodities that really make up the core (like food, drink, basic weapon and armor prices, and other commodities like speeders, powerups, clothes etc.)

its the basic things that make an economy tick, not the high end stuff.

and unlike R/L VERYONE in SWG can have a job..just go to a mission terminal ..and whammo you get cash for doing something.

Given that so many link pearls into the economy that would indicate TWO distinct economies in SWG..the normal player one and the JEdi economy.

Jedi have no use for any of the above commodites save for a swoop so they totally exit the normal game economy and enter one based on power crystals and pearls.

ANyway..i make a good amount of money selling swoops and ship parts..been a healthy little business I run in my spare time and its made sure I always have a million or 2 credits in the bank.

Depression..hardly

Ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it. That does not make sense.

The reason I say to tax the rich players(and by rich I mean 10 mil + ) is because if they have that much money.... however few of them there may or may not be... most crafters will keep high prices with the hopes of a rich player finding their vendor. True, this applies to some servers more than others. This kind of ties in to the anti-competition on most servers too.

Example: player A learns player X has over 23 mil credits. Player a thinks "He's got way too much money I can charge him1 - 2 mil.for this semi-rare, but not hard to get item and he'll probably pay it." Player B sees that player A is charging 1 - 2 mil. for the item that he has and assumes that it is the going rate. So instead of trying to undersell player A, he matches his price or even goes higher in hopes of making just as much money because "that's how much the item is worth".

This is what is screwing everything up... not the lack of competition, but the seeminggalaxy-wide agreementof "this is how much an item is worth, so this is how much you have to sell it for".

Completely unrelated to the above post.... what are these crafting bugs that everyone is talking about? Other than the health bonuses not sticking to armor I am unaware of any crafting bugs.

THAAAAAT"S right. You have foundus out. Each daywe crafterswake up and spend hours thinking of ways to make more money and cause more suffering to YOU. Crafters actuallyhave meetings where we try to come up with ways to rob YOU of your hard earned credits. There is a big, secret Order of Crafters where we set prices across the servers (but you still don't know our secret handshake do you?). BWA HA HA HA!!!! Might as well just turn all your credits over to me now because we have an evil master plan to enslave the entire population by controlling the economy!

BOOGITY BOOGITY BOO!!!!

The most telling part of your post is the last sentence where you say you are unaware of any crafting bugs. Spend a little time on the crafting boards before you spew your ignorance and socialist propoaganda.
