That's because players are willing to pay insane amounts of credits for a buff. Wonder how the CU will change this?

Who knows. The docs and chefs really have us by the balls with buffs. I can play without armor, but I can't play unbuffed.

First, if this is the way you feel, then they have you with or without the veteran rewards. The actual benefactor of this rewards are the players buying the buffs and food.

Second, if you think that a class of players are charging too much for a particular item or service, stop complaining about it and take action. There is plenty you can do to combat high prices:

  • Boycott the item or service you're concerned with. I don't mean just you, but tell your friends, post on the boards, run around shouting, "Boycott overpriced buffs!"

  • Take up the profession and undercut the players overcharging for this. I had a friend that mastered doctor, gathered up some resources, and sold buffs for 7K, which is about half the going rate. Within a week, the prices of buffs in the area were falling sharply. By the way, he did make a profit--if I remember, from the one week he did this he made about 2.5M credits.

In my opinion, players overuse buffs. It is unnecessary to run around in a constant state ofbeing buffed. I have been loot hunting the last four weeks, in order to find the items necessary to build recyclers, and the only mobs I have had to buff for were Canyon Corsairs. I had a friend that left the game that used to solo Janta missions, unbuffed and unarmored. It just goes to show that putting a little thought into the game enables you do many things that we've become used to thinking can't be done any other way.

I never said I had a problem with docs having us by the boo-boo with buffs. I don't have a problem with pricing either - I think they're underpriced for the game-changing effect they have on players.

Even if buff prices jumped dramtically, I probably wouldn't complain. It's easy to make back the money you spent on them, and have a good time as well. I was grinding carbines out at the Canyon Corsair stronghold this weekend, and withintwo hoursI had looted about 100K in credits as well as a half-dozen color crystals which sell the instant I put the on the bazaar for 6K. That's not even factoring in the other stuff I looted.

I mentioned it in thread in my galaxy's forum, but I'll repeat it here. As much as people complain about not making enough credits, the vast majority have enough to cover their day-to-day expenses. The problem is that the solo groups enabled uncreative people to amass huge amounts of excess credits. Now these people consider themselves "poor" if they don't have everything they want and a huge pile of credits collecting dust.

One more thing, why in the hell is this forum so hostile? Seems like everyone is so quick to jump down everyone else's throat when someone doesn't agree with them.

It may be because your general method of disagreeing with someone is to use lines like 'you're a fool' and 'I have to question if you really know anything about what you're saying'. Not a flame, doesn't bother me if you get crabby with people over the internet or not, just suggesting.

You mentioned you turn away anyone who wants armor made from krayt loot, and Isaid you were a fool if you turn someone away with 35% or better segments.

I questioned what you knew about crafting professions in general when you said that every major crafter would use at least 10 of the 30K resource kits as if it was a fact written down in stone, and refused to back down even when it was pointed out that these resource kits were selling in excess of 300cpu to the only market that can support that pricing, the doctors, leaving virtually every other major crafter out in the cold.

I then made some comments in another thread about krayt loot in general, not even directed at you, and you had a hissy fit about how I was trying to paint you as an idiot.

Why are there people worrying about the "sharp" impact of veteran rewards? There just aren't going to be that many of them.

As of right now, I have over 15 of these resource crates. None cost over 125 cpu, and most were free or close to free. If I cared (i.e., if I hadn't quit commercially crafting the day this change went live), I could very easily have 30 of 'em, or more. But, sticking with 15, that's 450,000 units of Avian meat if I want it, or enough for 3,879 sets of buffs. And no, I'm not the only Doc on my server with a similar number of these things...

For all of you that think this is helping to redistribute the wealth, don't you think I (and everyone else like me) will make more money by using these kits than we spend on buying 'em? You bet we will...

Further, yes, I, like every other Doc on my server, cancelled every offer that I had open on the day of the vet rewards. So, although I've spent an average of about a 100million credits per month for the past 10-ish months, I no longer need to spend a nickel. Sure, I'm blowing through some serious money buying up resource and decay kits, but so what? I'll never even think about buying another mined or harvested resource.

And are these resource kits helping smaller crafters? Well, they can all make nice packs now... But the other mass-producing Doc on my server has marked down all his sub-900 power packs to 5k per (or roughly 20 cpu). Bet that'll help the smaller docs get started... And if his supply of avian meat is anything like my supply, I'd guess that he could keep selling packs at 5k for a solid year...

I'm not at all sure what you mean by "that many of them", but I can assure you that the server-wide total amount of avian meat doubled overnight on my server.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. What happens to all of the second and third best avian meat now? Doesn't that stuff see a sharp reduction in value? What effect does that have on the second-teir crafting doctors? I honestly don't know - as a consumer of buffs, once they go over 2400 I kinda stop paying attention, and as a crafter I could "hide" some second and third best resources in some versions of composite and still make a marketable product while maintaining my place among the "Fab Four" armorsmiths on my server.

I'm also curious to seewhat effect a dropoff in the amount of avian contracts will do for the other harvestable resource prices. As an armorsmith, I was pretty much up the creek on hide contracts unless it was something I was willing to pay out the ear on, since I was constantly competing with avian prices. About the only place where you could afford to pay for less than "uber" hide was Endor, since even a 0/0/4/0 scout with a harvest droid and veghash can pull in huge amounts in short order.
