Thread: New Profession : The Banker

It could work this way though -
A banker can craft "bank books" like credit chips. A player can put money in or take money out of one, or give it away. While money is in the chip, it gains x% annually on the balance, prorated per day. He can set the x% when crafting it. While money is in the chips, it goes to a special account the banker can access - his "bank assets". The total on the "bankbooks" can exceed the total in the account (it almost certainly will). If folks start cashing in their accounts, and the bank runs dry, then the money starts coming out of the banker's personal account until he goes broke.
He can draw money from that account to make "loan chips". A loan chip has entries for Principle, interest (simple interest for the life of the loan) , and number of payments. They can be traded, but can only be kept in inventory or the safety deposit box. Every 24 hours, the server runs through and deducts payments as incidcated and puts the money in the "bank assets" account of the banker who made the chip.
The way this works is -
Bob the banker annouces he's opening a bank. He crafts a bank book for himself and puts 1Mcr on it at 5% interest, thus setting up his own payroll. Note that if the bank folds, Bob's going to be paying himself the interest - no new money in the game.
Ned Newbie comes by and wants to borrow money. Bob crafts a 5kcr chip at 8% simple for25 daily payments. Ned's going to be paying out about 202cr/day, but the bank assets will go up by a whopping 50cr. Ned can use the chip to withdraw up to 5kcr to his regular bank account.
Mike the Miner has 500kcr on hand, but wants to upgrade all his medium harvs to Large 13BERs. He figures he needs another 500k for about a week. Bob crafts a 500kcr chip at 5% simple (he figures Mike's a better risk) for 7 days. Each day of the week, the chip auto-deducts 75k from Mike's bank account (500k x 1.05 / 7) . The bank ends up ahead by 25kcr
Richy Rich realizes he has something he can do with the 50Mcr he has left after buying 3 AV21s and a large house. He invests 20Mcr into the bank. Bob worries about making the interest if Richy withdraws it all, and they talk it over and decide on 1.2% per year. This is about 500k/month, plenty for Richy to make maint on everything, and he's happy.
Bob now has a lot of money he can loan out to people starting businesses and get the economy moving.... and no new money has been added.
Side suggestions: Hitting negative on a loan generates BH mission as listed above. Each time a player attempts to withdraw from his bankbook account and the bank doesn't have the money, a BH mission is generated for the banker.

while it looks likeyou put alot of thought into it... it won't work for this reason.
Player 1: Goes gets a loan for 2mil to buy Awing.... get 2mil..... doesn't buy awing...keeps cash.
Player 2: Goes gets a loan for 2mil to buy Awing.... get 2mil..... doesn't buy awing...keeps cash.
Player 3: Goes gets a loan for 2mil to buy Awing.... get 2mil..... doesn't buy awing...keeps cash.

Player 50,000: Goes gets a loan for 2mil to buy Awing.... get 2mil..... doesn't buy awing...keeps cash.
100,000,000,000 credits added to game and no way to force people to pay it back.
so a bounty is placed on the these players..... great player 1 now has a bounty on his head... player 50,001 accepts the bounty (these guys are friend) kills player 1 collects on bounty... and makes even MORE money. Repeat addnauseum.
5 stars for you this can be a way of handling Cash loans :-)

it COULD work if there were no loans and the player had to pay it back but what if they go bankrupt or something and they cant pay??
ok then u put a bounty on them
then u have to pay MORE money to the bounty hunter
and the player has just gotten out of paying for an item because he has been killed once by a bh.
ok its a good idea but i just dont see how it would work too many problems
Don't forget that the loan gets paid back automaticly from your account :-) So when you do missions or loot money if you have something to pay YOU WILL pay it.
Regarding the Bounty Hunter it is (i think) a great idea to make things more interactive with the other professions and to let Jedi's breath a bit .
The aim of this Thread is to discuss the problems and make what i see a good idea work.
Cheers.

yah, I don't think this would be posible, say one buddy is deciding to quit the game and takes a huge loan and buys a bunch of junk from another buddy then quits just so his buddy can get some cash. Sounds to complex
Hya ,
as mentionned previously we may have to cancel money loans and leave only the fact that the banker can buy things to you and those things you can't sell them nor trade them nor destroy them untill you pay them off , and in case you cancel your account , the banker will have the money worth in His account.
Cheers.

its TOO realistic, i mean wat if u were out of cash and u still had like 1mil to pay off, every thing u got would go, that would suck hard, especiallyin a game ur suppose to be enjoying, dont want real life problems in game its just too much i play to get away from all that

Come on ...i agree 2000% we are here to escape and have fun , so i will give you one loan at a time :-) how about that ?
I won't give you either a 1 Million loan , that way if i am the banker to headache and if you are the client none either.
If this goes in, forsee the creation of a complimentary character: The lawyer.
Then SWG will be just like RL ![]()
