im saying. that adding this new 'feature' to mine an asteriod...is a lame attempt at adding content to their (failed) JTL expansion.

How is that going to be any kind of fun? fly your ship over to an asteriod..and sit on the asteriod while your ship does the mining.

its another stupid concept.

Have you even considered that other people might find the idea fun even if you don't? No, of course you didn't. It's much easier to stay within your little thought bubble and not be troubled with the fact that people play this game for multiple reasons.

me too...at least I have all of the gamefiles still...I can get icon's that look like EoD's and the faction symbols

....oh, and not to mention the smooth sound files and music

Blah, devs were stupid in that game near the end. Silly to have a class like the TE was.

I wonder how this will affect me and all of my fellow resource mongers out there as well as the architects who build our harvester farms...

I mean, if you can just fly up to an asteroid and come away with 50k steel, won't we all be out of business?

But if it's more fun for people to navigate space mining asteroids (which does sound cool) I really can't blame the devs for putting it in the game.

Presumably it won't be that simple. I believe the suggestions were for resources found only in space. Perhaps a lowered rate of harvesting. Something higher than sampling and lower than an actual medium/heavy harvester. I'm not sure what they're planning. I'm hoping whatever way they do do it, they'll have the harvesting mechanism require power and maintenance just like terrestial harvesters.

I do have to wonder how they will develop this space mining idea. If mining is too effective, then they will cripple (or at least force a serious change to) the current economy. If they don't make it effective enough, then no one will do it and they will have wasted all this effort. Its a tough place to be.

While I personally don't find space mining interesting, I am sure some people would. I too played Earth and Beyond and knew a number of people who did that alot. A game like SWG is bound to attract all types and maybe all these people jonsing for space mining will find a home here.

I for one am excited to learn moe about this expansion. I am sure there will be kinks to it ahd there wil lbe an alarming number of people claming that this will ruin the game, but I am taking a wait and see attitude. If worst come to worst, we can always try some other game. Good luck devs!
